R50/53 300,000 mile MCS
I just wanted to add that my friend is a sixty year old retired law enforcement (arson investigator) in Ky. We don't hang out or anything(I'm 39) just play golf together on occation. He said that the couple had the back of the Cooper stuffed full of luggage etc. I really didn't want to start a debate but I didn't realize it was such a big deal to some. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
The OP never said one year. He said a 2002
Totally disagree. If you had 100K on any MINI, you would be pretty proud the thing held up so long. Your not talking Hondas here.

300K for a 5 year old car is what ... 60K/year? Of course it can exist. How could anyone ever doubt that:impatient Whether it happened in a MINI, now THAT is a different question.
As to dealerships ... unless the person had warranty work done, I do not think that unusual at all. I have had many cars that NEVER ... EVER saw the inside of the a dealership. The only reason my MINI saw a dealership was because of warranty work.
MINI dealer are far and few between. In fact, if I never had a warranty issue, I just used a local BMW independent shop for work done. So I dont think its unusual at all.
As to be a celebrity ... the guy probably could care less. Of the 150K MINIs sold in the US, how many are active on any MINI forum ... 10%. The masses could care less.

it most certainly can exist. ...
It would be a tad bit unusual that they would have had none of their service/checkups done at a MINI dealer.....ever. ...
If this is the case, they probably have little knowledge that they are celebrities in the MINIland, just as Mr. Pilgrim is!!

If you drove a mini at 8.57 miles per hour non stop youd get 300,000 miles in 4 years.
206 miles per day is 300,000 miles.
At 55 mph average speed, includes high speed cruising and occaisional slowing down for a bit, you will only need to drive less than 2 hours one direction, and less than two hours another direction. (1.86 hours each way)
So like, if you were running cocaine or pot (cocaine is a better return) accross a boarder near sandiego every day (why stop on weekends, youre raking it in) you could easily beat out this fabled dood who is recorded as having the most miles on his mini. A well established coke runner probably wouldnt post on forums remember.
Just some thoughts.
anyone got a mirror. hm.

100k miles isn't remarkable for a modern car, even a MINI. I'd probably make a thread as a milestone, but I wouldn't be bragging.
For a MINI? since the oldest car is only 5 years old, it has NO track record. I'd like to see the numbers ...
"show me the money"
A modern car not lasting 100k miles would border on pathetic.
"show me the money"
I'm not saying they will or not but with so many major problems, a handful of people over 100K means nothing.
Wait 5 more years and then we will see
But nothing can be said now since there is not enuff statistical data

There isn't any statistical data to support your position either. Plenty of anecdotal evidence on both side, but not enough to prove anything. I've seen 3 MINIs with very high miles clocked. Not 300k, but still some pretty high numbers. Is it possible to get 300k out of a MINI? Sure, but just like any car, you have to take care of it to get there.
I’ll do this one more time, put up or show up!!! Show me a picture of a “new” MINI with 300,000 miles on it. If I see it for myself, only then will I believe it.
A friend of a friend told me about this… And this person has what, 85 posts to their name. A whole lot of creditability goes there.
I’ve been driving my problem free MCS for over 4 years now and know a huge part of the MINI community out there and I’m going to believe some persons who just happens to know someone who happens to know….

But there is statistical data showing how many problems exist. This forum is full of complaints of all kinds. So we shall see over time ...
a. First owner, no problems (me)
b. First owner, problems
c. Second or later owner, no problems
d. Second or later owner, problems
The poll could be decomposed into what kind of problems to further get a handle on where the reported problem areas occur as well.
Dave, are you up for the challenge?

no more
I'd never buy a MINI 2007
I have no desire to be a guinea pig
I let all the early adapters work that out

Why would he lie? That'd be beyond silly.
