R50/53 300,000 mile MCS
i'll be at 140k when i get the title from the bank...
and whomever has that gas calculator - please DON'T!
well i bought my mini back in september of 2002 and i am almost to 200,000 miles and still on the origanal clutch, the car has never been in the shop for any kind of mechanical issues and has been an awsome car since the first day, now since i dont drive it in the winters i might have been getting near the 300,000 mark so if this guy travels the us then i completly think its possable i did have the most miles on a mini in michigan at one time thou i havnt looked for many moons lol
minis rock
minis rock
i own a mini one with 130km's ... and i push very hard

i just have a lot of attention to any oil leak etc. and i only put the best gas and oil possible.. and there it goes...
travelling at weekends to speeds up to 190\200 kms h (its tuned).... and always reliable!!

why does everyone have a clock beside their mileage? i want a clock on mine...
MINIs built in 2005 and 2006 had the clock moved from the roof headliner to the odometer LCD readout.
There is an 88 year old fella over at www.mini2.com that claims to have over 230K miles on his 2002 MC 5-speed. He says the car has been pretty much troublefree. The man drives everyday (For fun according to him) 400-500 miles for the heck of it.
If that claim is true, this should be one of the highest mile MINIs in the world today.

I love reading these high mileage stories. Thanks for sharing them. Times are tough. Food is hard to come by. I hope my car ('02 MSC with 57,000) lasts w/out too much trouble. Let's talk about what we do for PREVENTIVE maintenance. How about it?
drive alot
im considering buying a 2003 mini cooper s, realize theyre super charged and question their dependability. in the past several years i have driving in and around 300k miles over several vehicles, and im not talking highway. the vehicles have been all nissan and toyota. most of which were destroyed through drivers running red lights/stop signs. which well sucks. though they were both toyota's 1 a 90 camry 2.0 with 276k miles (which as ive seen is still low for that model) and the other a 06 scion xB with 36k miles (not even broken in.) im currently driving a 90 nissan maxima, but as it is it needs some work, and in the line of work im in i need to have a good running reliable car daily. my plan, get another nicer car, fix my nissan, and continue to use that as a beater, as with its 204k miles still has a very strong engine and trans. however the car that i will be purchasing will both be my day off/date car, and my back up for when the beater's down. which will be immediately once i buy a car.
my driving style seems to fit what the cooper is, however im curious of their capabilities in higher miles, as this thred seems to be about, i have no issues with maintence, use synthetic oil in everything, and replace parts before they NEED to be replaced.
my knowledge of mini is that theyre are currently being built by BMW. that spells reliable to me, as in my travels ive seen bmws with well over 500k. however the minis arent that old, and havent really had much time to prove their worth in higher miles. the question being are all these people talking about 100k being high miles serious? and can i expect a mini to be more of a money sink, then a joy to drive?

Seems like a heated thread...too bad.
I personally test drove an 05 MCS that had over 180,000 miles on the odo. and that was over a year ago.
My last 2 cars were both over 200,000 miles (Hondas) and in excellent running condition when I sold them.
I hope to drive my current 03 MCS to 300,000.
I don't think 300,000 is a crazy figure at all.
cheers,
dag

oh i might add, i on average drive 250 miles per day with low peaks of 150, and high peaks at 400. every bit of it as enjoyable as i can make it. (snug corners, high speeds, quick accelorations, and slowin down to check out women.) 100 miles commute, the rest while working. beyond the point of dependablity. is working on a mini as bad as working on a nissan? do you have to remove 4-5 parts to replace one almost everytime? is there alot of special tools involved? everything breaks under a certain amount of pressure, when that time comes am i going to have to fork out a ton o money, or is it workable?
time to reawaken the dead...
...I haven't read through every single thread to see if this has already been mentioned, but I'm sure most to you know by now there IS a 300K mile mini. In fact , it has 350K.
