R50/53 300,000 mile MCS
Since when does this guy owe you any kind of proof? He was only making a comment on a discussion board. You've come on way too strongly from your first post in this thread. You've turned it into a personal attack on twonz1's credibility without good reason. I don't think that's any way to treat a newcomer to a largely friendly community.
Is it at all possible that when the warranty was up these people started using service other than MINI? This means MINI does not know about the miles driven and they really could have the most miles on a MINI to date. At least the most miles on a modern MINI.
No dyno sheet ... no emperical data ...

This ain't your momma's sowing circle:impatient
Somewhere in this thread someone said we NAMiacs are weird people (or something like that)! And after reading the thread I would have to agree. And given the fact that I've pretty much read the whole thread, that certainly puts me in the weird category! Anyway, I ended up here through a link on another thread, but once I found this one, I just felt like it deserved to be resurrected from the dead - so-to-speak.
Only the tight-assed tone of this thread is interesting. All of this MINI community stuff seems rather a stretch if you hang around NAM enough. Why the OP would hang around for more is beyond me...
What would be so amazing about an 02 MINI with 300K?
Figure it's 6 plus years at 50K per year and you're there. And, the big deal is what?
What's so implausible about the story? Is it because no one believes that a MINI would last that long? Be reasonable. People drive POS cars that I would never even consider buying incredible distances just because they are inclined to do so. They rarely talk about how many times they've been towed or what their total repair cost equals. A mechanic will fix whatever you like to break.
It doesn't make the car good or the practice wise but people do it anyway.

But I agree with you - putting that kind of mileage on a MINI in four years is unusual and impressive, but it's hardly "unpossible".
Well, if you look at the date of the first post in this thread, it would have had to have been closer to 75,000 miles/year for four years.

OTOH, as gas pushes the $4 mark my guess is that we're gonna see far fewer 20K+ mile per year cars. Even with a MINI, that's going to start to equal some real cash. SUVs? I pity the fools. Actually, I don't. I just laugh and point.

Let's say $3.50 per gallon to be nice, $875 a month just for gas.
Yowsa!
Yes, the OP said the car is question was a 2002, but the original post where he told us about the high-mileage MINI was from November of 2006, so the car's owner would have had to rack up the 300k miles between March of 2002 (at the *very* earliest) and November of 2006. That's why I said it would have to be more like 75k per year instead of only 50k/year.
Somewhere out there a retired couple are happilly driving their 02 Mini around the country unware of the commotion their story has created here.
I'm inspired to see if my Mini will go 300,000 miles. I only have 81,000 now but I will get back to all of you if I reach that goal.

Since I was the first to reach 100k in a 02 MCS I'm not to surprised if someone has reached 300k. I did sell the 02 to the head mechanic at my dealer and it is still going strong with over 150k on it now. I replaced my 02 with the 05 and I'm currently at over 110k to date. I think when I sold the car it had about 120k on it. So that will give me 260k miles that I have driven so far. That doesn't include the miles that I have driven on the wife 06 MCS. If someone has 300k on their mini. I say congrats!

Sorry, just thought I'd get my shots in before sndwave.
LOL you guys are crazy. Anyways just thought I would share:
2003 MC w/ midlands with 104,xxx miles with very few problems.
Here is the only problems I had with the car.....driver side door lock stop working (electrical), reverse switch on transmission, and broke one of the plastic sliders on the sunroof mesh screen. And I still get roughly 36mpg :p

I bought my '04 MC on 10-28-06 with 26,400 miles on it. I am going to turn over 93K this weekend as I drive it to Nashville. The only problem I have is that I ordered a new right front wheel bearing/hub today. 300K is do-able.

300K...was this on the original motor..if so that's great!

<tell me you didn't take that while driving>
