R50/53 MINI USA Updated with 2007!
I gotta say I have been hating Mellow Yellow from all past the pics I have seen of it (looked like golden mac-n-cheese or a schools bus
) but it looks like a brighter yellow on the miniusa configurator. I kinda wanna see it in person now. Could someone please order a mellow yellow Mini & run it by here so I can have a look
They must be counting the new overhead ones that control the moonroof.
I have to admit that I like some of the new options and packages. There are definately some improvements and additions. With that said, it's all gonna come down to how it drives. I was impressed with the page I read about the engine and its torque characteristics.
I dislike turbocharged 4 cylinders (and I really dislike V-TEC 4 cylinders) because of their power delivery. MASH on it and NOTHING, more nothing, even more nothing....then suddenly ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE. That might be fun on a dragstrip, but I want smooth linear and PREDICTABLE power delivery. BMW's inline 6 cylinders do this, V8's do it, and amazingly (to me) the supercharged MINI does it as well. IF the turbocharged MINI does it too, it just might not be so bad after all.
Apologies to the crowd that loves the Honda S2000, first generation Eclipse Turbo, and VW Turbos, but those things are weak as a sick kitten until the sweet spot in the rpm band, then full power slams on like the flick of a switch. That's just not my cup of tea. If MINI stays away from this paradigm, the new NEW MINI might be cool. Give it a fair shot.

No anthricite dash available, only silver. Cloth seats are not octagon but checkered. No h/k radio, an upgraded one, but it dosn't have a name. The sunroof sections both open. It seems like it's going to be nice. We'll have to see it in person. Same car about $1,400 more than my 06 Cooper.
IMO, it appears as though the Mellow Yellow is less lemony and more like the yellow used on Ferrari's or the Audi S4...
