The MINI angels were watching over me.
hey cdiaz,
that is awesome, i hope she was mortified. the nerve of some people, doing something like that and not accepting responsibility. good for you catching her!

Watch Pulp Fiction tonight. You can gat a cathartic high from Vinnie Vega's similar rage when his Malibu got keyed.

(Some punk kid bb guned my MCS a couple of years ago...they'll never, ever find his remains...muahahahahahahahahah!)

Wow, amazing! Glad she fessed up! Everyone's right, those dent shops are great, you'll never be able to tell there was ever a dent. Good Luck.

Neither here nor there, since the OP got the offendor to fess up, but this would not be a comprehensive loss. Comp is for fire, theft, vandalism, or a sudden flurry of falling antelopes.
This would be either collision, or uninsured motorist (hit and run).

OP, since you now have to offendor's info, please be sure to file an official police report for hit-and-run. If you let them off easy, they won't have any reason not to do it again.

wow...a good ending to a "hit and run". You found the person who hit you...good detective work. OK...did she look surprised when you confronted her, shocked that you found out...more like embarrassed? It sounded like when you conftronted her, everything went OK. Way to have some control because I know I would have been feeling very upset.

In most jurisdictions, a hit and run is a high level misdemeanor, meaning big fine and possible jail time. Sure you can go to the cops and file on her, but I guarantee that you will make an enemy for life. If she 'fessed up and her insurance (or checkbook) covers your damages, I say no harm / no foul. 'course the choice is yours.

you are REALLY lucky she confessed, b/c if she didn't, you'd never have gotten anything out of her. I had a similar situation in college, my integra got nailed in the bumper, someone just dragged against it as they back out. I freaked out and scoured the entire student parking lot at Duke. I found the car that I know did it (my paint on his car, his paint on mine, perfect heights/locations, everything), called the cops, they came out, and the cop told me this, "I believe you, I'm positive that this person is the one who did the damage too, but I can't do anything about it without any witnesses or a confession"

Thanks guys. I'm so stoked!

I'm not going to file a police report. She was very honest and I believe her story. She said she thought she hit my bumper and went to check it, but there was no damage to it. (because it wasn't my bumper, it was my rear quarter panel) When she saw there was absolutley no damage to my bumper she just considered herself lucky. I was just really glad she confessed, honestly. She could have totally denied it and I would have been stuck. But she was really sorry and honest about it all, and I was just happy I caught the person. So I just got her insurance info and left it at that. Good karma points for me.

More like embarrased and humiliated. I'm surprised how cool I was too, considering how pissed I was when it happened.

Sorry that this happened to you. My guess is that you may have to be a bit more selective when parking. Spots next to islands are my favs. I open my drivers side door, poke my head out the door and creep up to the curb leaving as little space as possible on the curb side. Just remember when you are pulling away so you don't scratch the wheels.

Here is my favorite spot ever!

In Dallas, if that was a spot near the door to the Mall, someone in a huge pick-up would try to squeeze into the space with you or they would take the adjacent spot, but would park 1/3 of the way into your space as well.

I use that same technique... looking for an end spot near a curb and squeezing up against the curb to maximize the amount of free-space on the other side. It usually helps.

I parked like that for 4 years with my old MINI and it worked! Not ONE door ding or scratch. My daughter calls it 'the parking game' and rolls her eyes, but I'm the one with the ding free car :p

Dent

My son hit my husband's motorcycle with my mini while parking it in the garage. He put a huge crease on the left front hood by the headlight. It was huge!!!! I met with the dent wizard guy but was told that he could not fix it because he could not get directly behind the dent and told me to take it to a body shop. I had to take it to a body shop and was quoted $700.

Before calling Dent Wizard I had called Dentless Image in Springfield, VA. When I called them to cancel my appointment I was asked by the receptionist why I was cancelling. I explained what I was told. She then told me that I should bring it in because they fix mini hoods all the time.

I took it in this morning and to my surprise they were able to repair it. It looks perfect. It only cost me $120.

Wow and here I get upset or pissed when the morning dew pulls all of the dirt and grime out of the air and sticks it on my MINI.
