My MINI was photographed at the beach today

So, this is crazy. I was driving to the Santa Monica beach tonight (the area off Pico) to catch the sunset. I drove around this circle, and 2 men with camera's stop me. They are very happy. They proceed to tell me that they are location scouts and that they are scouting for a location to shoot 3 short MINI films, directed by some famous director dude (I am spacing on his name). So I drove my car back around the circle so they could snap photo's with the sunset in the background. It was a small favor, and it made them so happy! After that, I parked my car and enjoyed the sunset. What a strange world we live in. Just made me smile.

I am not sure what his name was... I was focused on something else. They just said that they were shooting photo's of the location, and it would be awesome if they could actually get a MINI in the photo's with the sunset behind me. After I parked, I saw a classic and this crazy cr/w driven by this really old lady. She has diagonal decals bilaterally. The first time I past her, she was sporting her sunglasses and baseball cap. Oh, and they said there would be 3 shorts, they would be on the internet as well, and they were approx 6 minutes each. If I hadn't been so distracted, I should have offered the use of my car for the actual shoot! what was I thinking?

So Sassy is looking to be a movie star. Not bad for a MINI who has just landed in LA.

So are they going to share the photos of your car with you? If so, post them for us to see!

Could these be like The Hire films BMW made? That would be incredible to see MINIs doing that, unfortunately at this point they would probably be R56s only...booo.

Don't want to rain on your parade but sounds like the ol' casting couch deal. Or how about a " Hey babe I'll make you a star. I did the last Britney Spears music video". I would watch that if I were you. LA can be a nasty place sometimes. Seems innocent enough but anyone could tell you what they said. Real industry people don't do that, without proof of some kind. If they are real they will have no problem giving you a phone number that you can verify with a call.Did you have out of state plates on your car? If you did that is the first thing a poser would look for.

I take it you were there?

A member of SCMM shot some pics of an ad shoot near downtown a while back.

Things do happen.

Cool for you

Call me old school.
I'd like to think things like this are on the up and up.
When "Industry People" approach strangers and ask for favors
it sure would go a long way if they offered I.D. or something.
This kind of things makes it hard for those of us that are legitimate.

Glad you had fun.

I wouldn't jump to such suspicious conclusions regarding climbergirl's experience with the photographers. Santa Monica has loads of entertainment industry offices, and it is more believable that they wanted a test-shot using a MINI than that they had ulterior "casting couch" motives.

I've been invterviewed at 3rd street promanade three times! The first time was for Rolex. They asked me about what the Rolex brand means. The second time was for Grey Goose vodka. I got to taste the vodka for free . The third time was for Victonox, the swiss army knife people.

These things really do happen all the time in that area.

I live in LA and I know they do, but you were in a public crowded place. She was in her cool MINI in a parking lot with probably not so many people around. It would have been a perfect location for a crime of opportunity. It happens all the time and if you don't believe me ask some law enforcement people. All I am saying is be careful out there. It if is too good to be true is probably is. Good luck with your MINI shoot.........

See what happens when a girl goes to work for 12hrs? She comes home to find her thread mutilated!

now here is for your casting couch sentance.. I have lived here (westside) for some time(8+ yrs). And I am embarrassed to say I have "friends and have dated some people in the industry". But, I confess, I didn't know it until after I liked them. If you re- read my original post (and have any idea how the industry works) they were location scouts. Their job is to look at several different locations in which the director might like to shoot his film. The circle was packed with cars and people as it always is at sunset. They asked me if they could shoot photo's of my car in the location. They did not shoot my car for the short films nor did they ask me if I was interested in starring my car in one of the films. The fact that a MINI showed up while they were taking location photo's was just icing on their cake. As for Hollywood, not a fan. They take up all the parking and delay traffic. And I tell them as much.

No raining on my parade, but next time, do us a favor, read the post a bit slower. I do apologize if I didn't clearly explain the story. Seems like everyone else understood.

My my we are getting defensive now, how fun.

I did read your post slowly. You just gave minimum info. Let's see two guys with cameras mentioning an industry name that you don't remember, telling you they are scouts and you are giddy. I will interpret it the way I see it thank you very much. If you or anybody else wants to think this is your BIG BREAK to Mtv well good for you.

Maybe if you knew a female who had been raped because she was a bit naive under similar circumstances of false pretense you would think differently.

BTW "sentance" is spelled with an e. Have a nice day.

This is really not the tone that climbergirl intended for her excitement in posting this thread. Let's keep this thread friendly, folks.
