Is the Center Chrono pack installed at the factory?

Just curious, if it is done at the dealer I was considering removing the option to save a little $$. If it is at the factory then it is too late as the car should be boarding a boat any day now.

Edited:
OK, now I know it is from the factory. How about some positive thoughts on why you like the chrono pack?

Factory installation. It's a done deal, but you'll never regret having the chrono pack.

They're right. It was one of the things I had to have on my MCS. Most of the other "bling" options got tossed though. If you think about it, since you get the OBC with it it's really only $100.

You get the speedo and tach where you need them, side by side and right in front of you. Plus you get oil pressure, oil temperature and engine temperature gauges. The only downside is losing the cool, retro speedo in the center of the dash. But it's worth it.

I'll reluctantly agree with the others on this one...when I purchased my 06 MCS Conv, I guess the excitement of the purchase led me to overlook a couple of things! One of them was the chrono pack. I really was a bit disappointed at first (I don't have a chrono pack on my MC), but I'm getting used to it. I also really love the speedo in the center of the dash.

I guess I really wasn't paying too much attention to the details on the Convertible (I'm afraid the Convertible and the prospect of owning it produced a marked "narcotic effect" )...after signing the papers, I walked to the front of the car and exclaimed to my MA, "It's got Xenons!!" She was a bit surprised and I think she thought that this was a deal killer for me...hardly...I was just thrilled to have Xenons! I wouldn't have put these extras on a car if I had ordered the car, but it's nice to have them if you're buying "off the lot" anyway!

I ordered the chrono pack with mine, and I'm glad I did. I wanted the extra gauges that came with it, but most of all I wanted the speedometer and tachometer where God intended them to be, both behind the wheel, not separated with a tiny digital speed readout in the tach and a monstrosity of a speedometer out of my sightline in the middle of the dash. I've thought about getting one of the new Minis, but if they refuse to offer a chrono back and keep the speedo in the middle, that's one sale they'll be losing.

Yep. If you drive a Mini the way it should be, you'll want that speedo right in front of you!

Yeppers, I'm glad to have the chrono pack. I like having the extra gauges to keep an eye on oil temp/press and water temp. Also, I like having the speedometer in front of me. Not that it helps keep the speed down. I wonder if I can get a discount at defensive driving if I offer to teach a class.

Chrono pack = thumbs up for reasons above
Not including a boost gauge in the chrono pack = thumbs down

Love the chrono pack - anyone know if it will be available on the '07? I'm thinking that since the center speedo is large enough to house the nav (and all of England), that there won't be a chrono pack.

I think its great. I picked up yesterday. Chrono pack gives oil temp and press, water temp and fuel gauge. Though my oldest son was dissapointed that I didn't have the giant speedo in the middle. He did think the oil data was great.

Chrono Pack was a must for me. More for the location of the speedo than the extra gauges but they do look cool.

+2

There certainly is room in that big center area for another needle gauge to indicate boost.

On the rare occasion I've been able to get a loaner MINI from the dealer, not have the speedometer next to the tach on the steering column has be a nuisance for me. I really didn't like having to focus on the little digital display or totally take my eyes off the road in order to know what my speed was...

With the pulley I knew I'd add and a engine that then would be getting almost 2 HP per C.I. I wanted Oil pressure and Temp gauges for sure. Now I see both after market and MINI options for dual gauges, one on each side of the big central tach, and were I doing it today ( 06 models ) I'd consider that to have the funky old school speedo and bigger tach.
