Do you let others drive your MINI?
Are other people as afraid of letting others behind the wheel of their MINI as I am? I made a point once I got the MINI that I'd be the only one behind the wheel. I'm afraid that if a friend scratched or damaged the car I'd be putting the friendship in jeopardy! So I'd rather not risk that scenario. Am I being selfish or are other people as reluctant as I am to letting others drive?
im exactly the same, i just dont see why i should let any of my friends drive harley when they can often times barely drive their own car. only person ill let get behind the wheel is my dad, and thats usually only when i need to borrow his pilot
At first I was like this, but after a bunch of rock chips, dings by doors (even when I park out in the boonies
), & scratches, I'm not too worried anymore.
I still won't let anyone drive it unless I'm in the car though. And I have a select few people that aren't allowed to drive it period!

I have actually let other members of our group drive my MCSC to test modifications that I made. Someone may be considering a pulley or short shifter and after thet try out my MINI they want both......

Is this rhetorical. Who wouldn't let their SO drive their car? What is more important, you relationship or a hunk of metal?:impatient
I'm teaching my son to drive on the MINI. It is actually an ideal car for that. Easy to drive, park, shift, etc. It makes him more confident and me less anxious. Of course, the trouble will start when he gets his license and wants to go out solo in it. Then it will be time for him to take his mother's car!
My wife drives it almost as much as I do, I have no issues with that. Past that, though, others have driven it, but I don't normally let anyone if I can help it, although the opportunity never arises either, so maybe if it did it would be different. I don't ever drive other peoples' cars, so I don't know why anyone else would drive mine.
I love my Mini, but it's just a car. I'm happy to let other people drive it, so they can share the joy of Mini. Doesn't mean I won't flip a coin with the spouse for the keys to see who drives first when we go on road trips.
The only car I've been very selective with was our last autocross car, a tube frame Prepared class Fiat X1/9. With the power/weight ratio, the mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive oversteer-happy characteristics, and the cantilever slicks, which weren't good about warning you when you ran out of "stick", I had to be sure the person driving was competent.

i rarely let anyone drive mine. mostly because i dont trust anyone else's driving. i like the excuse when my friend used though, he said " just let me drive it, i''ll let you drive my car." his car is some old honda with two donut tires, and more plastic wrap windows than glass windows

good one!I once or twice let friends drive my MINI... And my brother drove it a couple of times...(on Montreal-Miami trips...) But that's it!
Nobody, and I mean nobody, drives Simon. It's not a hard rule to stick to in everyday life because I'm single, but occasionally a situation will arise that's a bit uncomfortable, but I stick to my guns because other people aren't as careful despite their best intentions.
And why did that happen, because i got lazy and let the blood realtive only, and I better be in the car, and oh I do have the mileage memorized rule.

My wife does not know how to drive standard, so I do not have that problem. As far as my parents go, both of them know how to drive standard and if they ask, I will let them drive it (although I have not told them yet). Hey, if they paid for my education, it is the least I could do.

worst though is when a friend goes "i'll let you drive my car" as in in the future they will b/c they dont have a car right now, i just find that one not only kind of rude, but funny in a looking back basis
