Age Appropriate!

Had to pass this along.

I just turned 50 in Aug.

Decided: what the heck, get rid of the stable, boring 1993 Mercedes 190 ( Paid for! and taking a bath on it's resale because values for 10 yr+ plus have plummeted!)

Just ordered an MCS PS/B.

Told a buddy that I'd just taken the plunge...
He was very disapproving - explained "That You're NOT 30,... You're FIFTY!! " Thought the vehicle was decidedly INappropriate for me!

Yikes, too bad for him ! He's also fifty, but I guess quickly approaching cranky old!

I'll wave someday as I pass him in his nice new Ford Explorer!

Go for it Mark!!! Lots of us 50+ folks got into MINIs because of our fond attachment to the classics we knew "back-in-the-day." In my case, it was a Spitfire and an AH Sprite.

Well this guy seems to think 50 is too old. Shoot, 50 is young! I'm almost there.
Enjoy your car, smile big and wave bigger.

Way to go Mark. Heck, I'm 58, and even a bit cranky, but I have loads of fun in the MINI!

There is nothing more attractive than a man or woman who embraces life and truly 'lives' it...applauding you from Texas!

I'll be halfway to 50 in a few months, but hey, MINIs are for everyone! When I was on MTTS I was impressed by the diverse crowd of MINI owners present. There were people of all sorts of ages, genders, races, etc. My 51 year old Dad wants a MINI and so does my 19 year old sister. When I first decided to buy a MINI I was afraid that people would think its too much of a "chick" car. But I soon realized its not a "chick" car or a "guy" car, its a driver's car. So have fun with it, I hope you enjoy your new MCS!

since 60, and has been "60" thereafter ) said he liked.

My fiance and I are both approaching 50. Some thought we were a little long in the tooth to be having a baby. But look at The Twins below and you can see we paid them no mind.

We're living the dream ! Congrats to you for living yours, Mark !!

Zooming towards 50

Only 45.
Wife and kids are having the debate on old people driving...

P T Cruisers! But not the MINI. It's about 75%.
Congrats on the proper choice. Happy motoring!

I find that Mini's are often misunderstood by non-mini people. If they don't get it, you can't explain it to them, because they wouldn't understand. Just gotta shake your head and feel sorry for them.

Good for you! Seems many people have opinions on what is an age appropriate car! I'm not sure who is more excited for me to get my car... me, my kids, or my 66 year old dad! The MINI traverses all ages

P.S. Your friend doesn't have to ride in it with you!

If the MINI meets your transportation needs 90% of the time, and lets you have fun while doing it how is it not age/life appropriate?

Also, since he's your friend, you can still bug him to take his SUV down to the hardware store when you're catching up on the Honey-do list!

Hey I think that's awesome!

I'm 24, but my Dad and I both wanted MINIs since they came out. I have since moved out of the house, and I got my car this spring. I drove him home to meet my parents shortly after. Daddy fell in love! He's 60 and he's planning on getting his own MCS ASAP. He LOVES them!!!! He wants a DS/S or DS/B MCS with the works. My dad is the coolest!

I just turned 55, and I'm still alive!
I've owned alot of cars in my life, some junkers, some very expensive, and I can't say I've had more fun with any other car, above the BMW M3s, Porsche 911s, 356s, Ferraris, etc. - still the most fiun car to me - my Mini.

I bought my MCS when I was 50...and waited til I was 54 to mod it.
Age is a number.

I just bought my MCS a month ago at age 64 and I'm having a blast! I just drove it 200 miles yesterday while working at my "semi-retirement" job...makes it feel a lot less like work. I also drive a 1959 Triumph TR-3A and plan on having fun driving no matter what "stage of maturity" I'm in. My SUV is at the back of the driveway until I need to haul something really BIG.
Keep smiling...maybe your friend will "get it" someday.

Lots of people don't understand- until their first ride.

Remember, though, to be kind to the unsuspecting uninitiated. Be sure to point out the appropriate "grab-handle" locations for the passenger before departing.

Done properly, by the time the "introduction" is finished , he'll be clutching the door handle so tightly he may leave permanent impressions!

After a zippy trip through the twisties, your friend still might not agree with your choice, but he will walk away with a new measure of respect for the car and its capabilities.

It might be a good idea to Scotchguard the seat cushion upholstery, too.
