R50/53 Age Appropriate!
It's an illustration that I did back in 1988 of a 1956 Porsche 550A RS spyder. Since the car number is #22 (factory entered) it could have been Jean Behra, Huschke von Hanstein or Umberto Magioli - possibly on the Targa Florio. Looks like Jean Behra. Very much Denis Jenkinson era, good guess.
This thread is getting pretty long...
Age Appropriate? Haven't noticed anyone snickering at me for driving a Mini. I get thumbs up from all ages. I see quite an array of folks out there driving these quirky machines. Teens, Coeds and Old Crusties all unite!
Do any of you "old farts" look behind you when someone addresses you as "Sir"?
During the past 5 or 6 years it seems pretty common for people to address me as "sir" and I still occasionaly look around to see if there's a stately-looking gentlemen standing just behind me. I'm 46... "sir" sounds a bit strange, but not as strange as "dude."

I'm guessing you haven't had the pleasure of meeting koolmini, yet. He calls everyone "dude" (easier than remembering names)!

For anyone who feels a part of the Woodstock generation.....through Todd's Mods.....Motoringfile offers two different 'Peace' stickers & magnetic badges. You can catch a glimpse of one version in my gallery.
I made it to the original Woodstock Music Festival in my '69 VW Beetle and since then I have had a peace sign on every car I've owned. My last one was purchased in Haight-Ashbury, but it's not in stock any longer. Shortly after Gabe's badges came out I suggested that a peace badge might appeal to older motorers and would help me out for sure. He indicated that he'd put it on his list and three months later it was in production.....best one I've ever had.....problem solved.
This is a friendly head's up for all the rest of you OLD FARTS out there. I'm going to be turning 59 on Monday......and for every birthday thereafter.

Outstanding! I'm not quite there (still got 15+ years to go) but I think it is fantastic that you are getting a MINI... goes to show that you still have a love for life, as well you should have...
I didn't read through the entire thread but from my experience with seeing other MINIs on the road is that they are usually quite a bit older than i am (i am 21).
Actually, i would even say that i rarely see people 18-25 on the road with a MINI and i've had it for 3 years now.

I hope you're still motoring when you're 97, Earl. I'll be following you through the twisties and carving the canyons on your tail end.
Earl. I'll be following you through the twisties and carving the canyons on your tail end.
I, on the other hand, always have to do the chasing . . . . . until I get hit with the retraining order
I've sent you a PM.
