I want to get an unscheduled oil change at around 3000 miles. The closest dealer to me is Brecht MINI in Escondido; I've heard horrible things about their sales department, but not much about their service. Obviously, I didn't buy from them.

Anyone who's gone to them for service, how was the experience? I especially want to hear from you if you didn't buy from them.

Thanks.

I too would be interested in what you find out about service at Brecht as they are also closest to me, however I didn’t buy from them due to their take it or leave it attitude in sales. I saved over $5,500 on an ordered MCS with just one phone call to an LA area dealer and had less then a three month wait to take delivery.

IMO, if the place is THAT unfriendly and filled with a buncha crooks as said in a wack of previous threads/posts, than I'd be thinking firstly that it's operated and managed by the same kind of people. Secondly, I wouldn't bother taking my car to a dealer of that nature even if the service dept was adequate. The service dept would have to be top notch and wayyy above exceptional, for me to even consider it. I tend to not give any business to people whom are a bunch of money grabbing insensitive buttholes.
I say this all at the risk of making an assumption, based on the words by others given here. I've never been there myself. But if it's managed by crooks, I wouldn't really care to do ANY business there at all, even if one part is better than the rest of the place.
Just my two bits
Cheers,

Thanks for the input. That's exactly what's been crossing my mind about it and prompted my post. I think I'll check out Long Beach or Irvine.

My first test drive in a Mini came from Brecht. I was visiting inlaws who live in Elfin Forest, and spent a morning there. I found them to be quite friendly and helpful. I don't know what the bad rap is about. I even considered buying from them, but tho SoCal dealer markups were unacceptable to me.

I was considering having them do my service when I am down there.

Just my experience.

Hi All, I visited Brecht BMW Service and Parts Department in more than three occasions and I got the impression that people there are friendly, courteous, helpfull and gets the job done on a timely manner. You do have to call in advance for a service appointment. You have to verify that parts are available before motoring there, as most of the parts have to be special order and it takes 2 to 3 days to get them specially MINI parts. Ray Rhubottom, John Coons and Harris Fecher were my service advisors, Ray Garza for parts. It's a pleasure working with them. That's just my experience
There is a big difference in sales and servie. I find service dept to be quick and reliable. Bought my MINI from out of state.

Cheers,
jceviche

I cannot speak to Brecht service, but Irvine Service is great. Very professional staff all the way around. You do need to make an appointment, but that is pretty normal these days.

I just got back from a road trip, visiting Brecht Mini and Long Beach Mini. I received a great feeling from Long Beach Mini. Parts dept. was stock with what I needed and friendly. The people are friendly too. Just remember the owner sets forth the way they do business. If the Sales department is aggressive in there pricing, the service department may be aggressive in there diagnosis or just pissy about doing basic little ticket repairs. I didn't like the fact that Brecht Mini had atleast 10 MCSs on the lot some with 3500 dollar markups. Some places are more interested in making money than building a relationship and selling fair priced cars.
