Smoked Tail Lights?

I was wondering how I would go about smoking out my tail lights? I did a search and couldnt really find much info about it.. could you guys maybe link me to a site with instructions?

Im not really sure, is it a tint you put inside the tail lights (thats what I would assume). Would I have to go to a car place to have them do it for me (or COULD I, because I would probably mess it up myself).

How much does it cost?

And P.S. Any cool pictures of blacked out tail lights would be appreciated.

Qwert, you're link is wrong.

Anyway, to answer your questions...I have mine tinted. I got my kit from www.mossmini.com and did them myself. I would not recommend this...unless you're skilled at tinting. Because of how thick the tint is, and the shape of the tail lights....it was near impossible for me to fit them, and my edges are all messed up.
There are several options you have:

Get the MossMINI kit and do it youself.
Call a tint shop and see if they will do them.
Send them to jon, and he can spray them.

The tint goes on the outside (since the lights are sealed) and the spray goes on the inside. Here is Jon's website: http://www.jonstintedtails.com. I believe he charges $75. Moss MINI kit is like $35, and I'm not sure what a tint shop would charge. Me personally, I would either send them to Jon or get them done at a tint shop.

Note* I believe Jon's tint's are permanent, and also you will have to send them to him, so you will be out of tail lights.

And here is another thread about Tinted Tails:

Here are some pics of mine:

And the bad edges:

What's that have to do with anything?

I think those who have blacked out tail lights are using tint Whether or not you have a shop do it I think depends largely on how much you trust yourself. HAve you tried searching NAM? Specifically the Interior and Exterior Mods forum Iknow many have done it I'm not sure if anyone has done a how-to yet.

Check your state's vehicle code, make sure it's legal in your state.

"Smoked taillights and side reflectors give your Mini a clean, fresh appearance. In addition to adding a great look, all pieces are cut from 16.5 mil, heavy duty film, to help withstand impacts. Film is designed so as not to affect the clarity of brake lights or turn signals. May not be legal in all states."

tail light's

try Lamin-x.com. Kit' s are precut and not too hard to do youself. Did the Mini's front and tail light's. Just recently did the front of the Elise in smoke. If you use the prod make sure you follow the instruction's and if by chance you get some bubble's LEAVE THEM alone and they will reabsorb believe it or not! If I hadn't had done the MINI first would have been discouraged with the Elise as it was harder to do and attempted to do it too fast. A trick is to use a hair dry to aid getting around corner's as the film is 16 m. It took about one month for the Last small bubble to resol on the Elise , but it look's beautiful. Laminex is the stuff you see on GT racing and comes in a various colors.

I'm pretty sure the Lamin-x is the same film in the Moss MINI kit.

I couldn't agree more. They're really not that hard to do, just take your time. I ordered the lamin-x ones plus I ordered the wheel arch light covers too. You have the option of 83 or 70 percent tint. I ordered the 70. Now if the wife hadn't taken the camera, I would post a pic or two.

third brake light ...>>

I would suggest to anyone tinting the tail lights to also tint the third break light.

otherwise it will not looked finished.
