Anybody else get a dent in thier roof when it gets hot? I get a dent in my roof when ever it gets over 85. it goes a way when it gets cooler. I know its from the roof expanding, but has any one talked to MINI about it. Im taking it in for a new windshield 4/2 and Ill ask the service dept. just wanted to know if I was the only one. By the way I have no sun roof.

 Good luck with it...let us know what the dealership/MINIUSA does to remedy it for you.

What happened to the windshield?

Cheers!

Yes. Mini2 does have a thread about this problem. I looked at the pics and the dent is in the same exact location. So far the only people, besides me, who have noticed this are the ones with the black no sun roof combo. I have a painted chequered flag on mine, the black paint may be the culpret that is heating the roof up. I'll still talk to the dealer about it, but it seems that the roof needs to expand and just has no where to go.

The word is that MINI recommends putting a series of 5 mm lateral cuts in the insulation material that is bonded to the roof. This supposedly frees the metal to move when it is heated.

Does this only happen to a black roof? I have a white roof and notice a little dent that can only be seen in certain lighting conditions and you cant feel it when you touch the roof. i think its just an imperfection in the metal and i dont think mine is heat related becuase i noticed it this winter.

The reports of heat-relateed dents to date have only been with black roofs.
