Is there any new info on the availability of Xenons? I have a 9/6/02 build date with all packages and I'm wondering if it may end up getting pushed back.

What's this? Is there a problem with Xenon availability?

That had happened at one time. When my order was approaching construction time they warned me that I might get delayed do to the lack of Xenon headlights, in the end it was not a problem and I received my car early.

I ordered an 'S' with xenons on the 13th of July. I have a production date of 8/2/02 and my dealer never said anything about delays. So I think you should be OK.

Pebble.

Around the time my MINI was built, they were putting Xenons in the Cooper S's, just to please the higher-paying customers... If they haven't re-stocked enough for all cars, I think it would be a pretty safe bet to assume they're still doing the same thing.

What do you guys think of the xenons? I have only driven cars with halogen lamps...I have no experience with xenons, but would love to get some feedback on whether they are worth the extra price.

Cheers,
Ross

The Xenons leave me guessing on weather or not they're set correctly... The width of the light is INCREDIBLE! I can see the other bank of a 3 lane highway, but when driving on just them, I feel like I'm overdriving them... weird... I do recommend them though!!!

Tollag, it is my understanding that the Xenons AREN'T set right on purpose as to NOT blind other drivers. So they tend to light up all around you very well but don't do much of a better job in front because of it not being lined up ideally. That's what I was told...not sure if it is true and I don't have my MINI yet to check them out.

And I thought I was so clever trying to get MINI ME on my license plate. Not only is it taken in Arizona, but it's a common theme. Oh well, I'll still have the car to drive, if not the right name.

Happy motoring.

I have xenons on an AUDI TT, and am not sold on them generically. On my car, the mandated auto leveler mysteriously stopped functioning, or became deprogrammed until I one day noted the fog lights carrying more distant than the low beams. I must confess, three rabbits on different nights all met their demise due to this misfortune, and their propensity to run across the road at just the wrong moment.

Even adjusted, I don't think the Xenons hold any advantage over halogens, and in addition, they are more expensive to purchase, likely to fail, are expensive to readjust unless under warranty, blind oncoming drivers. In short, if they were not included already in the MCS sport package, I would never own a pair again.

Hmmm...that's strange. My MINI was built 3 days ago and I heard no such issue with the Xenons...I ordered the Sports package, so Xenons are standard. It was finished ahead of time, even, so it didn't get delayed...please say it still has Xenons!!

I think only the Reg Coopers have a shortage with Xenons...I "hear" there are enough Xenons for the 'S' model.
