Bought my used 04 MCS (stock) last month, and took it to The Sacramento Niello dealership to have a new master key programed.

They said the car had been in in June for a battery replacement and ECU flashed to correct some Emissions thing.

During the drive up and down 7000 ft grades (6 speed manual) w/ A/C on and punching it regularly , it was getting 35+ MPG (checked manually too and confirmed!) seems high for an S.

Anyone else know what else, if anything, may have been changed when they flashed it?

I presume the flash completely erased the other owner's driving learned habits and the Mini runs great (19,000 mi)

 

Sounds like they flashed it to a non-S

Driving around here on the freeway, I have been doing some redlining to have it get used to ME...getting about 31mpg and with flat roads Maybe it is a Scion in mini clothing?

Fun to get there in a hurry but not go over the speed limit! AND IT DOES GET UP TO SPEED IN A HURRY

I checked too...No it does not have a reduction pulley either!



Good for a luugh anyway! Better run out and make sure that supercharger is really there! Maybe they just put in the noise

What gas did you use? I found GBMINI#3 was more economical with 89 - and there wasn't any (noticeable) drop in performance.

I've suspected before that the MINI is most economical when it's still learning - maybe that's an engine trick to get good government fuel figures!
