US Army over26 years. Bought the MINI in Heidelberg last summer and now am in DC (had some adventures getting BMW USA o recognize warranty). On orders to UK- debating if I should buy a UK spec MINI when I get there. What a great problem to have....
Best wishes to Military MINI comrades (or should that be mates)!

Whattup? Sorry to have not been around a while. It's been mostly military obligations that have kept me away, although I have been keeping an eye on the Hawaii forum. It's great to see our numbers out here rise! I chatted briefly with a guy driving a Chili Red S on the road a couple weeks ago, and MCO came up in conversation... very cool!

Anyway, maybe it's about time to put a lil meet together... maybe a cruise around the island...

Retired from US Air Force after 26 years (19 of which were overseas -- Germany, Thailand, Okinawa, England). Still work for Air Force every day as an on-site contractor.

Presently have two classic Minis, 67 Cooper S, and 68 Woody, plus the 2003 MINI Cooper S that I am in process of selling -- 2006 MCS should be off the production line and on a boat this next week.

Have owned more Minis than I can remember, but I will be keeping the two classics that are now in my garage for rest of my days -- they are too much fun to even think about selling.

cheers,

Paul

8 Years active duty Navy.

About 1/3 of the DC Metro Mini's club seems to be active duty or former military.

15+ years and still going. First two were as a striker/GM on an LST in Somalia and Desert Storm (right at the end) then got my wish for Sub School and have been a Sonar Tech ever since. Currently stationed in La Maddalena where the mini is perfect. Was 72 Deg yesterday so we put the top down and went for a drive...gorgeous scenery and twisty roads.

I have to agree from the first page...I've never been ashamed to say what I do and am proud to be a bubblehead.

sndwave,

What does him asking who in the GI world owns a mini have to do with poor timing and way? I don't see any problem with his question.

As for me....

7 years Army and still helping the military community out as a contractor. Served in desert shield and storm as a soldier and in Iraqi Freedom as a contractor with 4th ID.

1 Year into my service in the USAF. Currently an E-3 as a Logistics Planner here at Pope AFB with the 23d Fighter Group Flying Tigers!

Hopefully my next assignment will be a base with some good motoring around it, we'll see
