Trying to decide - Need help.

OK So there is this new 2006 Pepper White S for sale for $24K at the Mini Dealership. It has almost everything I want.

It has
LSD
Xenon Lights
Harman Kardon Audio
Cold Weather Package
Power Sunroof
16 inch rims

What it doesn't have (I think is)
Sports Package (DSC)
Premium Package (Cruise Control, Steering Wheel with radio controls, Auto AC and on board computer.)

My question is can the dealer add these options? The biggest option I think I would want is the DSC. Is the Auto AC necessary?

If I spec out my vehicle I will not get it until the End of September. CARMAX said they would give me $20K for my current car right now.

What do ya think.

The cost to get those items added isn't worth the cost. If you can't live without Auto AC and DSC then I would order the new car.

Is DSC helpful for winter driving?

VERY helpful in snow. Not that you'd be totally lost without it, but it's a great feature.

I have auto AC in my MCS and the standard in our new Cooper. I MUCH prefer the standard climate controls. It is so much easier to turn a couple ***** and get exactly what I want than to always be trying to trick the auto system into doing what I want.

Lack of Auto AC is no biggie at all. . . .

Be careful of judging DSC.

The MCS comes as standard with ASC+T which gives you ALL the snow handling abilities of DSC.

DSC is in fact ASC+T (ie: traction control) *plus* extra features to attempt to stabilise the car if overcooked into corners or very aggressive lane changes (ie: stability control).

If the car doesn't have DSC it still has ASC+T which is what most people are actually using when they think they're using DSC.

And the auto a/c is not essential in any way. In fact since GBMINI#1 I always avoid it.

GBMINI,

That makes me feel a little better about the DSC. Well if the sucker is still available, I might just have to buy it. . I can always trade in for a 2008 if I don't like everything.

I still have a few days to decide. My Carmax quote ends next weekend. Of course I can order one with everything I want, but then I will have to wait a few months. :(

It seems odd that it has the power moon roof but not the other components of the Premium Package (auto AC, cruise, MFSW, etc.)

Although the ASC isn't quite the same as DSC, it will still help you out a lot in snowy conditions.

Not all that odd really. I order our MCS with everything that comes in the premium package EXCEPT the auto AC (which I didn't want). I saved at least a hundred bucks ordering only what I wanted a la carte.

I guess I'm the only one who likes the auto A/C! I got used to the convenience of set and forget in an old Cadillac that I drove in college, and I've always disliked having to adjust the fan or temp settings every few minutes as I drive.

Ours has the premium package w/auto AC...I would have paid a couple of hundred to get rid of it. (the auto AC that is). As someone has already said, "...always tricking it to do what you want..."

Haven't driven in snow yet, but don't expect any problems...I live in Western Mass and have driven my co cars, taurus and grand prix thru some pretty horrific snow and know the Mini will be fine.

I love the auto A/C. I have it in the Cooper and the MCS. It has sensors that judge the temperature at different levels and supposedly sense the amount of direct sunlight. The only time I ever touch the controls is to occasionally bump up the fan speed for a little more air flow.
