Well, I picked up my MINI from the body shop today after taking it to them to pull out a couple dents on the bonnet and repairing the deep scratches and chips caused by some pipe-ish looking thing that nailed me on the interstate...

the work looks great, can't tell anything ever happened, HOWEVER,

i am concerned about the clear coat he put on after repainting the entire bonnet. I stupidly parked under a tree all day today at school, only to come out to a car full of bird doo. so, I used my handy meguiar's quick detailer to start taking off some of the doo from the bonnet and i noticed some fine scratch marks. I then used just my (very blunt) fingernail to scrape some stuff from the bonnet, and that, too made faint scratches.

I am assuming that i am just making marks in the clear coat, not the paint intself. but my question is if I should take it back to the guy to get him to redo the clear coat. maybe it didn't dry long enough?

Also, can you just keep putting clear coat upon clear coat..

basically, i am completely ignorant about clear coats, so anyone with info, please fill me in and let me know what you think i should do regarding the easily scratchable bonnet.

thanks in advance,

ryan

They shouldn't be that weak at all even if they have no wax on them. I would take it back to be looked at.
