Visited MINI Canada's website today and found that not only were the checker options gone (was expecting this) but you cannot choose a MINI Cooper or a MINI Cooper S!

They have been replaced by MINI Cooper SOHO (Cooper) and MINI Cooper S Rallye.

Basically, they lumped a bunch of stuff in a package for each car:

Cooper SOHO

Power Folding Mirrors, Rear Spoiler, Chrome Line Interior, Chrome Line Exterior, (Chrome mirror caps not included), Glass Sunroof, Auto Dimming Interior Mirror, Heated Front Seats, Rain Sensor with Auto Headlamps. 16" Bridge Spoke Alloy Wheels - Style 94, All Season Run-Flat Tires: 195/55R16.
$2450 CAD


Cooper S Rallye:
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Power Folding Mirrors, Chrome Line Interior, Glass Sunroof, Auto Dimming Interior Mirror, Heated Seats, Anthracite Roofliner, Front Foglights, Rain Sensor w/Auto Headlamps, Rear Foglight, Harman/Kardon Sound System. 17" Flame Spoke Alloy Wheels - Style 97, Performance Run-Flat Tires: 205/45R17.

I think the choice of colors has gone down as well. No more picking and choosing (at least not on the website.)
Don't know if you can get stuff separately anymore in the showrooms. Can anybody shine a light on this matter?

Not to take advantage of the situation to much. I hope there will soon be some Bridge spoke wheels available for sale at the marketplace.

 

You can still configure your own mini on the CAD website. The new packages are on the main page but other options are still abailable.

 

They're not even on the configurator any more. (Cabrio versions are unchanged though).

 

You haven't been able to custom order a Canadian Mini for some time now. I purchased my 2006 MCS in early May, and it was already too late to special order. I ended up buying one off a dealer's lot. Why they shut down the custom ordering in Canada so early (compared to the US) is a mystery to me.

 

There is a large unsold inventory sitting on dealer lots.

i ordered mine. Custom ordered to. and would not accept one off the lot.

in terms of the CHECKMATE. its gone. no more. after June 2006, they were no more.

Here in the Toronto area there aren't many left on the lot but the Automatics are gone with Manual xMission left on the lot where I bought (Markham, Ontario). This dealer ordered 12 so I am hoping that the turnaround time for me is short since he had our baby on order basically before we walked in the door. I like the fact that most options are all lumped in. I wouldn't have wanted anything else really. The SOHO package is perfect for the person who wants gadgets but not the leather seats. The only other thing we won't get is Cruise Control but who needs that when you are having fun putting the foot to the floor...wooohoooo
