R50/53 640 hp electric Mini?
I kinda like this idea...the car companies are finding themselves looking into an emptying barrel and without a way to power the cars, they will literally be "out of gas..." I'm sure that if/by the time it gets to the market most of the bugs will be worked out. Mick/ Blue

A small 250cc/2 stroke engine only powers the generator when the battery gets low. So it kicks in when you are parked. Hmm i wonder how that will go over in Toronto's "No Unnecessary Idling For Long Periods Of Time" Law...

They also talk about it over at www.autoblog.com. I think the problem with the acceleration times is the weight. I'm sure it's a brick.

I'm sure it's the battery weight killing the acceleration. Although, 0-60 in 4.5 is really nothing to sneeze at. Any faster, and you're going to be leaving vital organs in the back seat.
