There are 5 accepted stages of mourning:

1. Denial
2. Anger - why me
3. Bargaining - Lets make a deal
4. Depression - hopelessness
5. Acceptance - Time to move on

After reading, literally, thousands of MINI related posts I have come to the conclusion that there are five stages of MINI Ownership (now clearly this does not hold true for ALL people as there are many many multiple car households ... think "humor", laughing at oneself can be good for the soul) but for some:

1. Giddiness - characterized by "OMG the car is so cute", Lets name it, Lets determine its sex, who can I wave at? Resell value is going to be SO HIGH!
2. Mod Time Baby (AKA MTB) - characteristics .... Bling baby Bling or ... POWER ... I HAVE A NEED FOR SPEED AND THE FACTORY SHOULD HAVE BUILT IN ANOTHER 100 HP!
3. Reality - Sinking another $20K into a $20K car. Hmm, What am I doing?
4. Depression - ANOTHER $%^$$%$ Code???? I am SO SICK of going to the dealer followed by ... What do you mean I can't get back the money I have invested in this thing?
5. Moving on - Wow that new (You fill-in the blank) sure looks sweet

And your stage is?

Mine (I have no choice, I just do what the wife says) I make the decisions on major items like when to build a new Aircraft Carrier.

 

I guess I'm working on the MOD stagee....

MODding, but honestly, I can't see what I'd spend an additional $20k on.

 

I bet there are may ppl here near the $20K club although in my definition, that might have been a little bit of hyperbole.

 

I'm still in Bat-poop-insane crazy stage.

My stages are:
1. Level headed interest: "Hmm, cool car, I think I'll order one"
2. bat-poop-Insane
3. ?????

 

1. Crazed look in eyes
2. Solo 2 competition
3. Calm happiness
4. Solo 2 competition
5. TLC mode

 

I'm still in stage 2.

Though due to the (almost) wifey I think I'll probably skip over stage 3. She won't let me spend that much.

 

Could I count GPMINI as a $31K upgrade, since I plan to keep GBMINI#3 ?

God knows that I plan to look for a used Cooper S hardtop in a few years (after I get my cabrio paid off). Every family needs a brace of Minis, methinks!

On Chow's scale - Mod stage.

 

With 55K miles I'm stuck in stage 1.

 

6 weeks as a Mini owner... I'm still in Stage 1, but have already ordered and/or installed $1k in mods, so I'm well into Stage 2. IF I can limit my mod budget, I think I can skip over 3 and 4. But that just leads back to Stage 1....... DENIAL.
