If there is a local MINI club near where you live find their website and attend a few events. You will be welcomed with open arms! Enjoy.
8 weeks doesn't seem too bad....But I'm the single most impatient person on the face of this earth and I really want my mini now

. But I wasn't going to settle and buy one off of the lot, when I could order it exactly how I wanted it (well..with what money I had)..

mine took exactly 8 weeks from ordering to delivery. I too am monumentally impatient... but joining the production week thread for your car is a must do... then research every little thing... and go on a run or two if you can. if you get lucky, maybe someone will let you ride shotgun or maybe drive some for a run in your area.
i waited 9 months. ordered in june 2002, (wanted a 2003 model) but waited so long because i wanted racing green, with the H/K radio, which were all added in the middle of the 2003 model year.
I ordered on June 3, 2005 and picked up on August 8, 2005. So, 9 weeks and 3 days. I spent part of June and all of July in China studying Chinese to make the time go faster

yeah the dealer said it would take about 6-8 weeks for the car to arrive, I was hoping for more on the 6 week side, but it seems like it's gonna be more like 8..darn...I'm going to have to take up knitting....
The run is a good idea, I haven't been behind the wheel of a manual transmission for 4 years and I almost hate for my first time back to be MY NEW MINI...if I kill it I'm gonna cry!!!!

about 10 weeks, and it was horrible waiting, but fun
.
I was on here all the time, learning more and more about MINIs.
The delivery came and it was totally worth the wait to have ur car exactly the way u want it.
Savor the wait.

Got quoted four to six months yesterday at Scottsdale Mini. Broker says he can get it faster not sure of the discrepancy and why it would take the dealer longer. But whatever the wait will be I still have the wife's I can drive when I get the urge. No waiting on that one as it was used.
We couldn't find what we wanted in 3 dealers, (Philadelphia and Boston), and I just asked the sales guy if he could find what we were looking for at New Country in Hartford. Funny, they had the worst selection (12 Minis vs 60 at big dealerships). Told him what we wanted, and he found it on boat on the way over. Had it 10 days later. The only thing we compromised on was I wanted spoke 17" wheels, and she wanted HK stereo. This one didn't have them, but we saved $1,000.
Unless we wanted JCW or something really out of the ordinary, we weren't going to wait. This was in April when Mini sends the majority of inventory over here I think.
I am not patient enough to wait for the best toy!

yup... it will be worth it... I actually think the wait is a big part of the experience. you get to spend time learning and you surely know that there are people building YOUR car to YOUR specs while you wait. you'll appreciate it more when you get it compared to just buying something off of a lot.

While I'm the third person to post with a 9 month wait (from deposit to pickup), let me say that this was for an 05! That was actually the perfect time for me as I had another car to pay off first. So if it was a mear 2 month wait, I would have had to hold off for 7 months.
As for the how I handled the 9 month wait: SUFFERED!
Well worth it in the end.

My wife got super lucky. We picked it up off the lot. I wanted the LSD for me as she will not drive the MINI that hard and everything else she wanted was on this one. We really did not want to wait 8 weeks for the convertable to arrive as the best weather would be past.
7 weeks and 2 days.
I spent most of that time annoying my friends and family with mini 'facts', browsing this site, and ordering accessories.
While spending hours on the minusa site figuring out exactly what I wanted my kids kept tell my wife, "Dad's dreamin' again!"
I broke 300 miles on the odometer just today and I'm loving it.

Does wanting a Mini count. If so, put me on the list at 4 yrs.
I went to order a Mini 6 months after they came out. Drove to the nearest BMW dealer in Lexington, KY with every intention of placing a order. Didn't realize all BMW dealers wer not Mini dealers. With the closest dealer nearly 200 miles away, I couldn't do it.
Long story short. After transfering to within 100 miles of a dealer (Mini Nashville), I finally got one. Ordered it the last week of December 05 and took delivery Feb 24.
