Did I get taken - 2004 Mini

Hi-

Looking for opionions, bought a 2004 Mini, 36,000 mi., automatic with DSC, paddle shift on gear shifter, h/K, seat warmers, sunroof, xenon, leather interior, leather wheel, multi funtion steering wheel . . . $15,500 plus traded 1998 Civic EX with 171,000 miles.

Thanks
Mark

Hmmm. Traded an old Civic (okay, I had a '97 Civic once, and I loved it - then) for a Mini? Be sure you take into account the "fun" factor when making your shopping comparisons. Besides, the deal is in the past. Focus now on enjoying a great car and a joining a great community!

I think the guy who got the '98 civic got the short end of the stick.... but that's just my opinion....

Not bad. Only the S comes with the paddle shifter correct?

If we go by KBB suggestions...

Then the MINI's MSRP used is $20,995

I also used KBB to estimate your trade-in value on the Civic. $2,420.

I think you did very well buying that MINI

And yes only a MCSa has steering mounted paddle shifters. Unless of course it is a Canadian Mc with CVT.

Well, how much was the Civic? Also, the only options from the list are: heated seats, leather seats, HK, everything else are part of premium pack. I haven't heard of leather wheel, beside JCW one, so it must be the regular multifunction steering wheel.

For comparison: I am selling mine (getting a '06 JCW) for $23,500. It's March '05 MCSa, has 16,500 miles, silver/black roof, premium and sports packs, iPod adapter, armrest, black bonnet stripes.

When I purchased my 2004 MCS, they also had a 2004 MC auto for sale at $19,500. It had 35,000 miles on it. I live in New Hampshire.

Yikes IM out of neutral and in 1st gear YeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Hey there - new owner here as well. From my experience, you did well. I just bought a '03 MC with 26K on it, CVT and everything else you got 'cept H/K for 15,825. I was very happy bc against the KBB, thats about 3-4K lower.

Oh and one more thing...you got an MCS!!!!!! Not that I contracted MCS envy as I drove off the lot or anything...

Good luck with the car! I am completely in love with mine...but now live in occassional fear after reading here on NAM many of the "problems" that occur...

I think I got taken now! I got an '04 with 39k with #1,#2 & #3 option packs from a dealer for $18,900. Still, no complaints it's worth every penny.

Just remember, you only "got taken" if you bought something you didn't like. If you like it, it was a good deal.

Sounds to me like everyone got a good deal

I think you should probably go back and give the seller another $1000

just a quick note, in 2004 there wasn't an MSCa. They didn't start offering the MSCa until after January 2005. So I don't think there's going to be any steering wheel paddle shifts on it.

Maybe his idea of a "paddleshifter" is the CVT and the way it slides sideways before going into the stick mode.

I bought an almost identical manual MSC (same year, same miles, and looks like the same or very similar options) for $19,000 and I was (and always will be ) very happy with that deal. You definitely did well.

Now stop worrying and go enjoy it!

a car's value is very subjective. if you think you got a good deal,
who cares.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your comments. It is not a paddle shifter, you can just use the gear shifter by sliding it right as a standard. Also, it is not a MCS, MC only. I like the advice "if you like it then it was a good deal". I love driving it so that says everything. Thanks again

Seems like a good deal to me. I just bought an '02 MC for $15,900, and I thought that was a great deal.

my wife and I are proud new owners of a 2004 yellow MC (private party sale) - picked it up for $17k with 19k miles on it - auto, premium package, rubber trunk and back seat mats, roof racks installed, and extended 4yr maintenance warranty - it was one of the best deals we could find around

Sounds like a fair deal!!

I just bought mine two weeks ago for $22,700. 05 MCS w/roof, xenons, leather, heated seats, JCW Intake/STB, all the goodies except the HK Audio. And only 6600 miles when I got it! Almost 8K now :(
