MINI Credit Card--Disappointed!

My MINI Credit Card arrived on Monday. Unfortunately, some of the specs I entered got lost. I have a CR/W with Chrome exterior package. I got an all "red" not even close to Chili Red MINI on my card. They did get my chrome air scoop right. The CR looked like crap to me--closer to a pigmented orange/red--that doesn't even get close. I called and was advised to resubmit the specs--they were proud to tell me there would be no charge. Thanks for that! When I configured my MINI the red was CR. I'd be interested in other's experiences. Nick

I can't get my JB/JB with bonnet and angled dark silver metallic side stripes + alta lights, HPD wheels, and M7 extreme scoop so I'm not gonna get a MINI card.

I came home on monday to find my new card in two pieces and in the trash. the GF wasn't aware that I had signed up for it... and as she does with any 'pre-authorized' cards she cut it in two. After I got over being a little annoyed we discussed it and I cancelled the card. it didn't look as cool as I thought it would anyway. guess it's hard to get the hyper blue metallic to look metallic on a credit card . Truth is, I certainly don't need another credit card at this time in my life. Damn you MINIUSA for enticing me yet again with something I don't really need lol

I'm also in the disappointed camp - the car was correct except the roof is red and it should have been black.
Tried to order a replacement, and the configuration page pops up but only displays "1" in the top left corner - no use at all.

MINI credit, if you're reading this - get it fixed! I won't use a credit card with the wrong car design on it!

yeah... i have to say the birth certificate for my MINI looks nothing like my car as well... Lacking these small touches really cheapen the intent and makes it more look like a gimmick...

I fell for the idea of having a card with a picture of my car on it when I first read one of these threads a week or so ago. Did the online application immediately. Monday, I got a letter from MINI credit saying I was approved and the card would be here within 10 business days. Being an oldtimer, I've never had an "acceptance letter" before, generally the card just arrives after applying along with its terms paperwork. This delay is giving me second thoughts.

I received my acceptance letter last week but no cards yet. It seems to me we people down here in Miami are saddled with "snail mail"

Will report back to see if they got my '05 MCS spec image right.

There is nothing to worry about IMHO. Some credit card issuing banks do send you an acceptance letter prior for you to receive the actual card(s). This is just their standard business protocol.

However, if the cards don't get to your place within the 10 business days limit, then I would be worried.

I got mine on Monday, and even though Bettie has "grown up" quite a bit since she first came home, I consider the picture on the card her "baby" picture. Makes me smile and sure is a great conversation starter.

Would be kewl if they could give you some specific picture requirements (size, dpi, color, etc) and you could submit your own picture. Would be nice if my MINI got 50 MPG too, but I doubt either will happen.

Your MINI can't make it to 50 MPH? Sounds like you have a serious problem right there... maybe it's in "limp home" mode?

Funny how the G is right next to H on the keyboard, huh...

I signed up for a Visa card a few weeks back and they allow you to put your own image on the cards. So all you have to do is take a picture and send it to them within 7-10 days. If you forget about it (like I did) you can send the image in or do it over the internet for $2-$5. I will show you mine when I get around to doing it if you haven't done yours by then. . The only downside is that you don't get all the perks that the MINI Credit Card (MCC hahaha...sorry) comes with.

We can't quite get Soulfire on the card, they won't put the dragon stripes, nor the dragon roof, nor the packers GB plate on the front.. No use then... Oh well, guess I will just have to keep looking at my car!

One letter, and so close together too! Thanks for pointing out the error, it has been corrected.

I agree---it's just a Credit Card. Ordered mine and it should arrive this week, not sure what it will look like. I pay all Credit Card debt within 25 days so I'm using the card for the perks (rewards). I think I'd rather complain about the interest rate or reward schedule.
One can customize a car to no end so I don't have the expectation that BMW Financial should or must be able to repoduce every person's car accurately. Perhaphs, If they allowed the upload of a picture of an individual's car that may make the people who want their exact car on the card happy or at least satisfied. The also offer this card for BMW owners mostly all of the people on those forums love the card. I've not seen anyone post that there wasn't an option for their aftermarket 21" spinners, etc.
Also to the person who wrote that they didn't need another credit card---I would disagree as it is not Credit lines but the over use/misuse of the Credit line that causes the problem. I do some credit counseling and the Open line actually helps your FICO score. If you are not going to use the card I would lock it in a safe or put it away somewhere safe but DO NOT close the Credit line as that WILL negatively effect your credit score believe or not.

I was told having too many cards will bring down your score. (this was told to me by the big 3 credit score companies and sear financial) The logic is as follows: If a bank is determining if it wants to lend you $50,000. They look at you situation and feel you can swing the payments. But now you have 6 open cards with a credit line of $5000.00 each. Now the bank is thinking the day after they make you the loan, you could go out and ring up another $30,000. in debt. Now they feel you can't afford the loan and these credit card payments. Makes perfect sense to me!

Are you guys telling them your VIN Number?

Are you guys telling them your VIN Number?

They should be able to pull the information off the VIN number. With that information you card should be perfect...

No offense snooter but what I wrote in my response is true. Your scenerio doesn't make sence to me,as no one can control what someone does after they have received a loan---including repayment (hence Bankruptcy, etc.) . Not to make this a Credit Forum but, it's not too many credit cards, it's too much utilization on Credit Cards and too much debt. Open lines of credit---meaning non utilized or available credit is not debt. They look at utilization. The two major componets of the mysterious FICO are Ratio of Debt to credit limit and Bills paid on time.

Hey Nvarner, I guess we'll have to disagree on this on. But if you do seach on the subject, there are several articles that back up my point of view. Here's one from HSBC — North America Military Financial Education Center

Don't get in over your head
Having more than a three credit cards signals lenders that you have the potential to get into too much debt too fast. It may also cause banks to decline your applications for other types of loans, knowing that you already have a sizeable chunk of cash available on your credit cards. Even if you don't have a balance on the cards you own, your bank knows you could run up charges quickly on any open card. The bank may deny you the mortgage you would get if you had fewer cards

I declined the MINI card though I like the idea... I have a New York Yankees card that I only use when in Boston on business, lol.
Other than that I stick with American Express Blue.

There are many, many, many variables that affect your FICO credit score, but for what I have read in the subject, having too many credit cards (With balances or zero balances) can negatively affect it as having too few of them

Typically what is recommended is to keep 2-3 credit cards in your wallet.
