It's because they are changing over for the 07' model. I'm pretty sure you can't even order an 06' anymore...so all the options will also be gone.

According to MINI of Hawaii you can still order... MINI near Minneapolis told me the same, probably can order until October they said.

Yeah, you can still order '06s through around September, but i think it depends on where you are... Last builds are in October I believe, so east coast can probably order the latest since it doesn't take as long to take delivery...

Ditto. Yep, you can still order until Sept. but it will depend on your dealer's allotment.

That was exterior. The interior also was available only with the checkmate package.

While the current generation MINIs will continue to be built for several more months, MINI is streamlining production a bit for the current generation MINI in the transition period until the R56 is rolled out to the U.S. market.

It is worth noting that some other new for 2006 options (English Leather Seats, Piano Black “seven” dash, and Park Lane dash) will continue to be available for the balance of the current generation MINI production.

Amazing...almost like the cars with the Checkmate are now a limited car.

Well I can do the external anyway.

I wonder if you will still be able to get the wheels.

How many checkmates came to the USA?

Is there a checkmate club or registery? How to join?

It was not a popular option, period. In my short tenure as a MA, I probably saw one at the dealer. I personally liked it, but I think the Checkmate package was sort of a market flop IMO.

It would have been better if they had offered multiple interior colours other than blue... It kind of limited the audience to those who wanted an exterior colour that would match the interior - otherwise it would look kind of funky IMO...

My guess it because of the blue interior. I really liked the checkmate package but why in the world would I want the blue interior on a PW/B?? I'm sure some people like it, but it totally offended my design sensibilities
If it would have been offered with a color coordinated interior I would have ordered it for sure, but blue, no way. They completely limited the number of people who would buy it by only offering it like that. I like blue but didn't want to order a blue car in order to make it make sense.
Maybe they'll bring back something similar in the future that will appeal to more buyers.

I think the Checkmate was a love/hate sort of thing. People either liked it or didn't. I really enjoy mine and it's cool to hear that so many people are trying some of the exterior designs on their cars. I love my CHECKS and am excited that he is an unofficial limited edition.

I saw a checkmate package in white.

The car looked great on the outside. I just didnt care for the teal blue interior...
