They first tried coating over the factory finsih, that did not work because the metallic finish in the stock coat was causing the black to finger on the wheel once there was a charge. So we decided to bead blast the wheels. That is where it got expensive, our factory coating will probably withstand a nuclear bomb. The blasting shops charge by the hour. We first tried to drip 'n strip them but after one wheel sat three days the finish was still on it and now just blistered. The only way to get the factory powder coat off is to blast it off.
Then we droped them off at the powder coater again the first coat he put on looked awful it was not thick enough, we could still see metal through the black. He put another more even coat on to give us a nice finished project.
St. Louis is AWFUL when it comes to customizing anything!!! Other cities are not this bad.....in LA this would have been a no brainer.....but in St. Louis it was like I invent the wheel for the first time and I was the only person on the planet that wanted to do this.
If you want to get this done, this is my advice, spend the money to get the old finish removed, this way you will not have any issues with the static charge the powder coating process puts on the wheel. Second...if you want to skip the blasting....MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE all your counter weights and tape.....our powder coater was ready to coat over everything even the weights....lucky for us the first coat did not take and it was not baked. But on a sad note....I did not check the back of one wheel and there was still counter weight tape the blaster missed and it got powder coated. Everyday I had to transport the wheels and check work I was behind the 'eight ball' so take your time and triple check everyones work.
Just make sure everything is smooth from the blasting and even from the powder coater.
I am a perfectionist to a fault. I will find gnat crAAp in dirt, so of course in my eyes these wheels are far from perfect. But we love the way they look and would do it again. Next time I will triple triple check everything.
Hope this answered your question.

Try this.... http://video02.cssd.pitt.edu:8100/Pep%27r/
I uploaded the full size pictures by accident...click on the Mediums.
If you look at the full size wheel picture you can see how the wheel still has charge and collected the rust off the rotor when we washed it.
Let me know if this works.

Wow thanks for all the kind words!
I am sorry that everyone could not see them I can still see them
You can also check out my gallery.
What I also know.....our jack that comes with our Mini is not good. When I was reinstalling the wheels I put the two rear wheels on first and hand tightened the lug bolts. The I jacked her up and the jack stand that was under the radius arm (I think that is what they are called) shifted and the jack stand kicked out and the jack that came with the car shifted. Lucky it was in slow motion and only one inch drop. I got out the 3 ton floor jack and a block of wood and did the job correct. The jack worked well putting her on the blocks but not so good on the way down. This has never happened to me before.....now that it has I know how important jack stands are...I am going to use two on each side now.

The problem is that your hosting them on a redirected HTTP port of 8100. There are quite a few phishers that also redirect HTTP to avoid detection. To protect users allot of companies and personal computer protection software block these ports and only allow your standard port 80 and 443 for SSL.
I would recommend uploading them to your gallery and linking them from there.
