newb questions~

hi all
My brother and I are in the market for a new car for daily driving and i've been trying to convince my brother to get MCS.
So the first thing i did is to join NAM and start doing some hw. and I think I did the first step right...
But there are too much info here and I dont have time... i will be going off to the stealership in few hours and wanted to ask some questions here for quick answers.
When is the 07 model coming out?
How much are 06 model's going for now? both MC and MCS models.
Is it possible to buy one at/close to the invoice price?
How reliable are they?
And if there's anything I should know about the car before going to the stealership, plz let me know.
TIA!

Go to www.miniusa.com. Build the exact Mini you want there. Print it out & carry it to the dealership. The MSRP on your printout is what you will pay (except in certain parts of CA you will pay more)

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that MINIs are still commanding full MSRP. Are dealers prone to include any freebies?

You can usually get some floor mats and/or a glove box organizer. . . and hopefully a tank of gas.

Even at MSRP, a MINI is a great value considering the level of performance and technology you are getting for the $$$.

I realize that. I've always called the MINI the best handling car south of a Lotus Elise. I guess it's just that I'm brought up thinking that you should never pay MSRP for a car

I live in the Bay Area and I had to pay an extra $2k over MSRP! My other option was to go to a dealer without an upcharge and wait a year before getting the car, but I really wanted an 06 since i know those are reliable.

But I did get free floor mats, full tank of gas, and a big poster!

Did you have to ASK for the freebies or were they offered? Seems to me a full tank of gas would be standard on a $25+ purchase!

My friend that was with me asked if they had any spare posters, and the MA looked around and found one in the elevator that he decided they didn't really need. I didn't ask for the floor mats or (yes obviously) the gas. Oh! also the cupholder came without asking, but I took that off soon after taking delivery because it bugged me.

Thanks for the freebie info.

So what is 2:12...2/12...all about (if you don't mind me asking)?

I ask because 11:11 is a number "thing" for me.

haha i used to happen to look at the clock every night right at 11:11 for months straight, freaked me out!

212 is the name of one of my favorite songs by my band Tribe... "212" was already taken when I ordered the plates though.
Here's a little clip of the intro, but you only get a taste of the "real" song at the very end: www.tribeband.net/downloads/Tribe%20-%20212.m3u

Under MSRP

I live in NJ and just bought my SB Silver top Mini in April. The MSRP was 20,250 which the dealer made 20,000 even. Then I got the black bonnet stripes put on for 225, so I pretty much consider it that I got the stripes for free. It is only $250 knocked off, but its something. I also bought the mats and the cup holder was already in it and a full tank of fuel. I love it!!!! It's the first car that I own myself and I don't think I can ever go back to a regular car again

1) Where are you located, that'll help answer the MSRP question?
2) There are many on here that live well over 100 miles from a dealer.
3) Its not a stealership in most cases, BMW has gone to great lengths to make sure that only the best service centers were allowed to carry the MINI brand (some are still better than others)
4) The MINI is still in exremely high demand, the majority of owners stil have their MINI custom order and wait (months to weeks depending on location), so don't expect to pay invoice. (and if you drive one on some twisty roads you'll soon see why)
5) Browse around on MotoringFile to get info about the 07 and general MINI news.
6) Bring a camera everytime you go to the dealer, its amazing what can happen when you pass through there

I am in Bergen County Also! I went to the dealer in Mahwah, but they didn't have what I wanted, I test drove one there. I actually bought mine out in Mini of the Hamptons. It was a bit of a drive, but worth it considering I didn't have to wait to order mine.

It's full MSRP in Arizona (Mini of Scottsdale). I think the dealership is great...and so is my MA.

I asked her about BMW keeping the prices AT MSRP vs it flying way over into gouge-land. If any dealership is charging above, it's up to them and the market conditions (price and demand).

I put $1000 down 4/22 for the waiting list. Got my production slot/place order June 8. My production week is the first week of July (Week 27) and delivery is estimated for mid-Aug/Sept.

I've bought a few cars from dealerships and always dreaded the sales experience. Never wanted to think I paid a penny more than I had to so there was a lot of back and forth haggling. Experiences even included leaving the dealership without a agreement only to get a call, within a day or two, saying they accepted my offer. I hate that game.

Nashville was the closest Mini dealer but still 100 miles away. I went in knowing supply and demand dictated MSRP but was unwilling to pay more. Great salesman, no bulls*** and no haggling. Ended up paying MSRP no more, no less.

In the end it was the best dealership experience I've had.

Ordering and buying my MINI was definitely the best dealership experience I've ever had too... course it was also the first.

But I cosigned with my Dad so I could get a better financing rate, and so he was there throughout the whole purchase process and he said it was by far the best dealership experience he had ever had, he was very impressed.

Great Experience

Buying my 06 MCS at Tate MINI in Annapolis Md was a very pleasant experience overall - mostly because I knew what to expect going in and there were no games. I shopped my order around and picked the best delivery date - along with the salesperson I felt the most comfortable with.

The price is the price and I kid of liked that.

Good luck!

I went to 3 dealers, test drove a couple etc. The good news is not once did any of them, start haggling, "I have to talk to my manager" or even ask me for my phone #.
VERY low pressure. That's the good news, but yes the bad is MSRP is what you will probably pay with "free" floormats or maybe even coffee cups!

Still the most fun you can have for the $$. Tell your brother about the resale value too!

Get the mini!
