To Sport or not???

I've already placed my order but my MINI doesn't go into production until Week 27 (7/3).

I have the 17" S-Lites and the Bonnet Stripes already - $600

The Sport Package is $1400 and would add the DSC, Xenon Headlamps and Front Fog Lights ($1200 indiviually) but I could add it all for an additional $700.

Initially I was thinking I don't like the Xenons but I guess I really don't know that much about them.

I know NOTHING about the DSC other than what I've read on the MINI USA.

HELP! Should I change???

The DSC is the Dynamic Stablility Control. When ON (the light will be OFF) the car will sense "slipping" of the wheels around a tight turn, and brake the car for you, to advoid crashing, etc. Turn DSC OFF (the light will then be ON) and it is MUCH more fun!

Get the Xenon's. I believe they give out more light? and they just look cool! And deffinitly get the fog lights. I use mine all of the time, and love them!

Xenons are brighter ohwever, its one of those things that you pay attention to initially and really dont think much about later... I'd say if you dont want to blow the cash up front, you can do without the xenons.... Its still a mini and the stock headlights are just as good for driving...

I did not want the bonnet stripes or wheels, but i wanted everything else... especially the xenon.

I was planning to go aftermarket on the wheels, but I began to like the s-lite rims the more i saw them, so I upgraded to the sport too.

Over the next 5 years or so, you'll probably kick yourself for not popping the extra 700.

It breaks down to $11.66 per month to upgrade... DO IT!!!

Go for the sport package. The stability control is nice to have (when you need it), and you get wheels plus different seats etc.
Atleast here in Canada, xenons are standard, but they sure are sweet
I wanted a sunroof, which unfortunately was only available in the premium package. Luckly i found a cooper with both sport and premium in the colour i wanted.

Xenons vs Standard?

I spoke to my MA. I can make the order change but don't know for how long.

The DSC sounds like an excellent safety feature. The Xenons vs standard are a matter of look and resale (IF I should ever consider THAT)!

The fogs are not as necessary in AZ but can be handy during our monsoon season. There's also a "cool" element to the Xenons/fogs.

Help! It was a no brainer on the Anthracite headliner, the HK Sound but am not as solid on this one.

Anybody have a good pic of a front view of STANDARD headlights? Everything I've seen (so far) has the Xenons.

Thanks!

If you can afford it, get the Sport package. It's easier NOT to use the DCS than not to have it and wish you did. The xenon head lights are great and cool looking, although the high beams are not xenon. I personally like the look of the S-Lite, but the wheels should be your personal preference and no one should tell you what to do there. It's your MINI and you make it look they way you want to make it look.

The bonnet stripes can always be removed if you don't like them, but they're included in the package, so get them! (I personally think it adds something to the sportiness of the car. The bonnet doesn't look as "naked." Again, personal preference. I couldn't believe my wife got them on her MC PW/B as she likes things plain and simple, but she wanted them!)

I tried to add one extra option outside of a package before my MCS went into production, but they said in Oxford it was too late to add as the car was scheduled already and the order could not be changed.

Check out my photo gallary. I think there are a couple front shots, plus the spoiler at the back. (I think visually the sport pkg is the same in Canada as it is in the US).
Personally id recommend spending the extra little bit on the Sport package. When that day comes when it's time to sell your ride, if you specify you have the Sport package, that alone will probably add a few hundred dollars onto your selling price.
Plus the 'cool' factor and the fact that it is 'slightly' customized to your taste.
I recommend it. But, its your dollar

I agree, if you can afford it, get the sport package. The xeons and the DSC are worth it. Plus if you ever sell the car, you can use both as selling points.

i ordered almost everything in the sport package ala cart as to not get the S-lite rims. We did this on both our MINIs. The S-lites look great, too heavy for me.

If they are your rim of choice, i find no reason not to get the sport package, mainly for the reason stated above.

Another note for the Xenon's. If you decide to fit them later, your out of luck. Sure, it CAN be done by the dealer, but they charge a REDICULOUS amount, plus like $500 a piece or something like that! It's crazy.

And I would also vote NAY for the HK system. I HARDLY listen to my radio (I don't have HK btw) when I drive. I listen to the SC whine, as do most others. I would spend the extra $500 on aftermarket upgrades or something else. Imho, it's a waste.
