Saw 120F on the on-board computer today

Was driving home this evening on the northbound I-17, just leaving downtown Phoenix when I looked down and to my amazement, my on-board said 120F!!! Ouch! HOT!

if the thermistor is in direct sunlight, then it will record a temperature MUCH higher then actual(in the shade)

I believe it, Dom! I am so glad that when I drove through AZ last week, it was only in the high 80s/low 90s....a cold wave! LOL!

I bet I've got you all beat. While everyone else was enjoying the hot day from the comfort of their MINIs, I was moving into my new apartment in 108°(that was the official high in Phoenix, today) weather. Dry heat my foot! Comparing 120° with very little humidity to 90° with high humidity is like comparing a pizza oven to a steam cleaner. They're both hot.

I saw a mere 82 on the OEM temp, but was going through some things before leaving the house this afternoon, 114 in cabin temp after I had the windows open for a 10 minutes, kinda scary to think what it was when I first got in. Guess this means summer is here and its a little while til I see 0 on the dash again.

Anyone know just where the temp sensor is mounted on our MINIs, it seems to be much more accurate than other cars I've driven, and also more impervious to sitting in sun, vs moving in shade.

Just behind the front bumber skin, between it and the bumper itself. If I remember correctly its attached on the drivers side lower grill. Since I've replaced my grill, its now zip tied to the bumper itself,
