R50/53 Manual vs Automatic
I think it's funny that everyone debates this subject so hotly. I don't think whether you get a manual or not will affect your enjoyment of the car. I think it's all personal preference.
There are many reasons people get automatics. I know myself that I'll enjoy paddle shifting when I can and full auto for my city driving. Living in California the traffic is killer and most will agree that having an auto during those times is better, easier. I think it's important to know how to drive a manual whether you have one or not though and the best way to do that is to sit in a huge empty parking lot and practice. It's all about timing. I drove the manual MINI and I didn't think it was a difficult drive at all.
Anglophile get what suits you. Don't let anyone pressure you into a stick because they think it's better. This is YOUR MINI!!
