What choice of seat cover do you think would be the best to ward off any injuries caused by a passenger of the doggly sort?

Perhaps leather scratches?
Cloth tears?
What about leatherette? I don't even know what that is. Is it wirth $1250 less than real leather?

My dogs love their ..uhm, I mean my MINI. My Jack Russell has no issues with the cloth seats. My Choco Lab could hurt 'em though I fear. So I made a doggy backseat thingy. It's a 10'x45" piece of fabric that hooks in with the rear and front headrests. And there's a cushioned seat bottom piece. It's all Scotchguarded, too. I highly reccomend it. VERY simply to make. I even tossed in a couple custom pillows to complete the panther black/silver look in the back.

But if you must have leather/vinyl, I'd go with the profile leather. The knobby texture would be great!

That's a way better reply than I could have hoped for. Complete with real life fix.

You could also just fold the rear seats down? My lab doesn't have a problem with it.

you could also get the rubber boot mat from MINI. Very dog proof.

Ryan, Very good job on the seat covers !! they look great, I may need to make something like that for my Boris!

I had seen this on Gabe Bridgers website, in the New and Unreleased MINI accessories section. He told me that it was a part that is available only in Europe, but that If I could find the part number, I may be able to order one to be shipped from Europe. I havent tried that yet though, but I absolutely love these covers. They also cover the sides, so the dog doesnt scratch the sides.

Davbret,
Love the photos of the choco lab in the car. We've been holding back on ordering. wondering if our 85lb GSD (German Shepard Dog) would fit:
1) How big is your lab?
2) How does she fit with the seat folded down?
3) Your opinion on our GSD fitting?

I´ve seen neoprene seat covers for SUVs, which work awesome not only for wet butts but also to keep our pooches from scratching the seats. Don´t know if they have applications for Minis though.

I haven´t had the nerve yet to try to fit my Dane in the Mini. I also have a choco lab, which I see fits in nicely, but I don´t want to torture my big girl and fitting two dogs in such a crowded place could be pushing it.

George loves the cloth seats, although he tends to slide around a bit during the turns

No dogs in car = No car.
Some of us just can't be without our 4-legged friends

1-She's about 75-80lbs. Typical large, field (ie long legs) Lab.
2-I have a rather involved boot sub/amp install back there, so putting the seat down isn't an option for me. Since it doesn't lay totally flat, that could be an issue. But if you made a small rectangular box that would fit in the boot indentation, so that the boot and the seats were level, it's be perfect! Simple project, too!
3-No problemo at all. The only thing I was worried about with my Lab was the middle seat belt hosters. They protrude and could dig into a dog's belly. That's why I padded the seat bottom part of my cover, unlike the other cover shown in this thread.

Horrified and howling cats fit best in the boot. The rear seats and parcel shelf covering the boot's contents make for very good sound insulation.

If the cat continues to annoy, give the cat something to howl about by relocating it under the bonnet. The howling of the supercharger will drown out any unpleasant feline outbursts.

Davbret, nice setup.

We have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever which looks alot like a chocolate lab. He's about 95 lbs and will get his first ride in the MINI tomorrow.

It's much easier to find a spot for our other dog, a Welsh Corgi. She too goes Motoring tomorrow.

The seat covers being sold by Diamond Racing are the ones being produced by "Wet Okole" and are manufactured of neoprene (wet suit material).

The only problem I've had in considering these is that no-one seems to be able to give me a straight answer about whether or not these fit the sport seats on the MCS.

I plan on ordering a set for my car... I hope the work.

One of my cats actually loves to ride in the car-he got used to it when he was little and I dragged him back and forth to my mom's house...he curls up around my neck and makes a good neckrest! The other one-forget about it! She hates the car.

Those covers are really cool. But our latest four legged friend is only 8 pounds, so he does not do much damage!

We put a towel down when his feet are dirty.

I think the leatherette would be a good choice. I'm between dogs at the moment, but got them because I will be taking my new dog (a Greyhound about 80 lbs) on many adventures in my MCS. They are soft, but firm for support. I would never have thought of leather in a car I was driving my dog around in.

I saw Davbret's covers some time ago and love them. I'm going to do the same.

We sell back seat covers just for the purpose of having our companions ride in the back seat. But, for those who will have there best friend in the front seat we sell seat covers for the front as well.

Now about dogs chewing up the Neoprene???

Our cars have the first seat covers make for the Mini. Both of which are sport seats.

Oh Yeah-They are good for human companions as well.
