Rent a MINI??

Are there any car rental companies that you can rent a MINI from?

I'm in DC a lot and travel from there to visit friends/family. Last two times I had a Ford Focus and, well, it sucks. Next time (possibly this weekend, or in 2 weeks, or in 4 weeks) i rather have something much more fun and that i'm love driving.

I know that the Downtown Seattle Enterprise has a MINI Cooper. We had to rent a car last week while the brakes were getting fixed on the SUV, and we got a freakin Chevy Malibu. MOST. BORING. CAR. EVER! *shudder* But the guy said that worked there said that they had a MINI at the other location. So I would say call around. You never know what you will find.

I've heard an unconfirmed rumor that the San Jose (Cali) airport has rentals of MINI's.

Anyone got confirmation of this?

A Ford Focus does not suck! I take that as an offense. I'm a proud member of FJ (www.focaljet.com) and I love Foci. My brother has one, and while they might not be up to par with a MINI (only what....$15k difference...) they surely do not suck.

And the reason I'm on that forum, I almost bought a Focus before finally deciding to go with the two year wait to get an MCS, over a Focus. A Foci is a great economy car and has great handling and tuning capabilities. Please check out that forum and what the Foci are all about before you bash them!

I'm thinking that you'll get more accurate responses if you tell us where you are going. You'll find different results in different towns.

edit* after some searching. i found a las vegas car rental company.

WHHAAAA!!

Buddy of mine has an SVT Focus... I can't stomach driving it... and rental foci aren't even that fun.

Local guy here has 10k in his SVT...vortech, the nine... Mine's still faster... and I only spent 1k more than he upon purchase.... see...Ford had a "resale killer... I mean rebate : cough"

I rented an MCS before I ordered one. The website is http://www.specialtyrentals.com. It looks like they are just in California though.

Here is the link to rent Mini and other special/exotic cars in the SF Bay area: http://www.specialtyrentals.com/

This company is actually owned by National Car rental (or somebody like that). I rented an MCS for a week out of Berkeley, CA. The car was delivered to me at the National car rental (or whatever it was) co-located with a large hotel.

In my case, the rate was good and I was able to live with the car for a week that included driving to around Sacramento, Ventura, Long Beach and a few small towns - all for work. This let me assess this car for my job which involves a lot of regional travel. I liked it and will receive the new one I ordered for myself tomorrow.
