Just wondering if anybody knows of others having these little problems:

1. A leak - During heavy storms, rain is somehow coming in from the winshield, the vents in front of the winshield or through the engine compartment. I have the rubber mats, and a puddle forms at the left foot rest on the drivers side.

2. My baby was sitting outside my office on a moderate, overcast/rainy day. I park right outside my office so I can pretty much see it all day long. Anyway, when I go to get in the car and drive off I notice something is different as I am changing gears. The little plastic insert in the top of the gearshift **** has poped up and looks like it exploded. Very strange.

Has anyone heard of either of these two things?

that water puddle sounds like a Mini problem not a MINI problem. I would take it to the dealer.

i haven't heard of either nor have i experienced any odd behavior w/my car.

the one thing i don't like too much is when it does rain here in LA, you have to be careful w/the windows - + when you clean the windshield w/the spray - since the run off just goes right to the window and inside if it is open at all.

I also had the pleasure of watching a TON of water go directly in my car on the passenger side when i went to the market and it started to rain while i was inside. instead of putting the two bags in the boot, i was going to put them on the front floor, i got a passenger seat full of water :

i carry a towel in the boot so I was able to clean off the seat, but i was happy to be by myself on that trip.

I've noticed the water entering through the windows after cleaning the window too! I don't mind that to much, I just need to remember to roll up the window. But the leak through the body does bother me. I hope something can be done.

Have you watched to see if your windows roll up automatically about 1/2 inch when you close the door? (They roll down a little when you open the door). If they don't, that might be the problem.

camwhit: take that mini of yours to a MOBIL "touchless car wash" where nothing
touches the car but high pressure water and soap. If you have a leak, verify location best you can and get to the dealer.A small leak might not seem like much now,but mildew after a couple o months can become a real dilemma. You paid for a mini with no leaks. Thats what warrantys are for. Demand satisfaction and good luck

The top of my shift **** exploded overnight. Drove the car last night , and it was fine. Went to move it this morning, and the clear rubber part on top of the **** was cracked down the middle and split open around the side. So weird. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem, although there don't seem to be many of us.

My shifter **** blew apart less than a week after I got the car. Seems this is one of those problems making the rounds. See the forum 'Exploding Shifter ****'.
