Jacking the mini....

I'm a new owner of a 2005 MCS with 16" runflats. Is there any reason to carry the jack in the car? With no spare, what's the point.... am I missing something here?

Tia,

Richard

Well...runflats are not infallible. What if you're on a trip (or local even) and you shred a tire. You'll need to remove it to fix it or replace it, shouldn't depend on the wrecker service. I ditched my runflats for regular tires as soon as I got the car, carry a can of Fix a Flat and an air compressor along with the jack. Won't cover all eventualities, but should fix a minor problem until I can get somewhere.

Hey there,

" why don't you carry a jack? - Cause I don't have a spare. Why don't you carry a spare? - Cause I don't have a jack." The eternal question!!

The jack is handy to have - just in case you find a tire shop that does not have a jack - you can lend them yours

Being serious for a moment - I do carry my jack ( I have runflats ) - WHY??? I just do - I can't help it. I'm a guy. Got to have tools!

You never know when something will get stuck under the MINI and you need to jack it up to get under it.

I was in New York City a few weeks ago getting something out of the trunk. A guy came up from behind and tried to steal my battery. Hit him in the head with the jack. So, I guess you need a jack in case your battery goes.

I like to think that my jack helps to balance the car out. I mean that pound in the boot kinda helps the front end heavyness.

I actually just put this back in a few dys ago, its cheaper than buying a boot net and keeps the tools I actually use from sliding around back there. Also I'm reading a story for and English class and they said to keep a tire iron under your seat, for when you get into fights and stuff, but then the kid only used it to change two tires, go figure.

I've had the car for 4 days now and the jack was ruining my gas mileage.

The only time I have ever used mine was to help another MINI owner who didn't have their jack/tool kit.

Replace the word "jack" with "gadget" and I think everyone would keep it in the boot just cause it was some novelty.

That gives me an idea, starting new thread to avoid hijacking the thread. (no pun intended)

i use my jack alot ,, lol . my mini is lowerd so its very hard to get a hydraulic trolley jack
under the jack mount if there is no one around to help me tilt it. so i jack up the back about a inch with the oem jack and then slip in the H-jack in the front and change my tires . thanks MINI for helping me with my lowerd toy

And this is why I carry mine. Quit being self-centered and think about others.
