Front license plate bracket

Hi,

It's about time I got some plates for my car, and I'll need to put one on the front. Two questions: I recall seeing a bracket that attaches where the front tow loop thing goes, but I don't remember where I saw it. Does anyone know where I can get one? But before I order one, are they any good? Work well? Does anyone have pictures?

Thanks,

Paul

I was just looking at these today My co-workers at the office spooked me at lunch today with stories of being pulled over for not having a front plate I had my MINI delivered with out the holes in the bumper punched and it's been almost 1 year... but with my luck

not-so-rednwhitecooper here on NAM is making these. You can send him a tow hook and he'll mod it, or he supplies the hook (for add cost).
http://www.rednwhitecooperonline.com/?p=38

Also, My Mini sells one
http://www.myminiparts.com/proddetail.php?prod=FPMK

The difference between the two seems to be that not-so-rednwhitecooper welds a full 4 hole back, where as the My Mini adapter is just two holes. Maybe not-so-rednwhitecooper could make one with just two holes?

Good luck!

There's more than a few solutions to this quest - search the threads, there's a fairly recent one.

Here's a link to a good thread in Interior and Exterior Mods, I think it's the one mentioned above.

GoMiniGo is another vendor out there with a no holes license plate holder. I picked one up last week and it looks pretty good. It uses a machined adapter that mounts in the tow hook hole. You then attach the mounting brackets to the adapter with machine screws and nylock nuts. As another plus, the position of the holder is adjustable (up or down about 5 inches) so you can make your own choice with regard to mounting height. It's very light weight but seems very durable also.

I am in no way affiliated with GoMiniGo. I just bought their product and think it is worth a look.

Motor On,
Phil

Is the bolt a standard size that one could pick up at Home Depot?

You will never find a bolt in a retail store to fit the tow hook, the threads are unique. The best you could do is buy a new tow hook from the dealer and then modify it.

I have my own design. Just a prototype so far. Won't work with the aero bumber though. I like how it floats out away from the body.

You should have got one at the dealer when it was delivered to you. I didn't get mine at delivery I called the dealer when I realized I needed one and they told me I should have gotten one. They put it on no charge for me. Good dealer Dreyer & Reinbold BMW/MINI Indianapolis IN. Scott Burton MA

Paul - The bolt is a metric M16. But I'm not sure what the thread is. I just returned from Lowes with $12 in parts. I looked at every metric bolt that they have and none of them worked Anyways, I'm going to assemble some thing tomorrow with the parts.

But I'm thinking already I'm not going to like it. I like the GoMiniGo design.
