If you haven't seen the movie "Breakdown" with Kurt Russell, you need to watch it.

Good movie about what could happen in one of those remote areas.

Enjoyed your write-up of the adventure. The part about MINI refusing to tow the car 30 extra miles to a dealer near your home still makes me mad.

Gosh, great story but I hope it doesn't discourage anyone from visiting more remote parts of the country such as this. Lots of great roads and great scenery out there, just be prepared (have a spare!). I have fond memories of pacing a Porsche 911 with my Saab 9000 turbo down 395 across the 7000 foot passes. Altitude is a great equalizer when you have a turbo. Just get out there and motor.

Not that you had internet connection or even cell phone, but many people were trying to help you through the MINI connection of this board and many others.

I’ve always known the MINI community is one of the best to help out any person in times of need, xsmini is a fantastic person as an example.

What a horrible trip and great write-up about it.

BTW how could you not know who MINIclo is?
