Extending MINI Maintenance - pricing

We have a 2004 MINI S that has 3/36 maintenance. We are looking to extend it to 4/50.
So far the cheapest we got quoted was lik $400. Anybody know a dealer who would do it cheaper?

Please let me know
Thanks.

Per the whiteroofradio guys, even $400 is a good price if you plan on needing a brake job. Other than that, you're paying $400 for one service, and that is around 50,000 miles.

What does the 8 Bills get you? How much can be done yourself?

Does this mean that if you have significantly less than 50,000 miles you will get nothing but an oil change, if that, for your $400 plus extended maintenance warranty?

That is my understanding...I could be wrong, however.

Is the extended service contract only valid at the dealer where you purchased the contract?

My dealer quoted me $425 for the 4 year/50K mile extension for the scheduled maintenance (Not to be confused with the standard 4 year factory warranty).

If you do need a brake job, why pay the dealer $800 for one......Unless you drive around on grinding brakes for 2months you will have a standard servicing of new pads and resurface rotors service that should not come close to $400 at any reputable shop.

I'm with you. The MINI should be a pretty owner friendly car to work on for routine maintenance. Once I use up the free oil changes and inspections, I'll start doing it myself or farm what I can't do out to one of the many independent shops in my area. I bought the extended maintenance on my M3 and ended up trading off the car without using it, any work on M cars is expensive so I thought it would be worth it.

Absolutely, do not waste the money on the OEM "extended warranty". As stated by others, the only thing you are getting is coverage on normal wear items for another year. Otherwise you are already fully covered under the factory 48/50K limited warranty. Save the money, instead, to spend about $1700 on a bumper to bumper 48/48k extension of the factory warranty (available from AAA). The warranty on my '02 is now good 'til 2010 and includes everything (including all of the outrageously priced electronics) except normal wear items (tires, pads, clutch).

Is the AAA policy good at every Mini dealer? Most of the aftermaket (non manufacturer) for other make ones I have looked at are not good. They last as long as the company issuing them (not long!)

Thanks!
