busted foglight

i went outside today, to get in my car at lunch. and noticed a shattered foglight lens.

i vaguely remember hearing a big "CLUNK" the other day, but then thought nothing of it. well, i found the damage.

any idea what the part costs? is it a do it yourself repair? are there any alternatives to replacing the part?

thx.
sean

I had a piece of retread hit my foglight with such force a couple of months ago that it knocked the bulb and bulb holder out of its socket without breaking the lens. I had to buy a new holder for around $12, fixed it myself. From my recollection, the lens was also a pretty easy item to replace if needed, my guess is around $50?

there are some that are removing the fogs to do brake ducting.
Put a note up on the Market place WTB.

I just bought the socket, my bulb and lens were okay, so yes. I broke a lens on my M3 and it was all a one-piece sealed unit which was over $100 even at jobber rate!

I didn't need to remove the bumper to replace the innards, wouldn't think you'd have to for the lens either, although it might give more handroom.

No need to remove the front bumper. You will need to support the front end on jackstands, remove the front wheels, and remove the plastic wheel well liners to gain access to the fog lights.

If you put some 40 mil stone guard film on the new fog light(s) before installing them, you won't have to worry about breaking them again.

Ah geez...I feel like a big dummy. I broke the blinker/parking light, not the foglight, take back everything I said.
