Hijacking the thread a bit, this is a recurring myth here. Read up on the MINI's invoice price on Edmunds.com and compare it with other cars in the $20-30K range. Base price includes around $2K of markup to MSRP, add in some options, it can go up another thousand. Buy some dealer added options and packages, it really swings to their favor. Most dealers of other makes WISH they could make $2-3K on each car.

Paying MSRP for an american made car is more of a new thing. Remember all the "deals" that were offered like $5K rebates and more...0% interest rates?

Alrighty here is an update on my opinion of Global. Check back daily as I flip & flop & flip back again

When I was in last Friday Thomas sat down with me & we made a plan (in the name of me not losing yet another day from work) for me to take off early from work either Wed or Thurs, drive to GA, drop my Mini off for convertible top repairs, get a loaner Mini, then either drive back late Friday or during the day Saturday to get my Mini back. The service dept closes at 6PM but he said I could get there as late as 8PM GA time as the car sales dept stays open that late...

I called this morning to be sure my part was in & he was going to have a car for me. He said yes plan on coming. I will call u if any problem. He never called but I was still uneasy & started calling him at noon to verify everything was OK. I left messages he never called back. In each message I told him I was coming. Finally message #4 said I was leaving the office & should arrive around 6:30PM GA time & who should I see in the sales department to drop of my keys & pick up the loaner. He never called. When I got stuck in major road construction just before the GA line (it took me over an hour to drive 6 miles :impatient ) I called & talked to someone at the desk who got him on the phone. Thomas said we have a problem . I don't have a car for you & you are going to arrive after the rental place closes. I was like WTF. I told him we planned this exact scenario last Friday & I spoke with him on the phone this morning & confirmed all was a go. He acted like he didn't even remember our conversation & asked me how far I had already driven. I said 110 miles & I took off work 2 hours early to do this . He said he would try to work something out & call me back. Well he got me a loaner but personally I'm not too greatful (I mean whooptee frickin doo & thank you so much for going out of your way to do what you said you were going to do in the 1st place). What if I had never gotten him on the phone & had arrived at 7:30PM GA time & no car was there for me???? I think i would have been arrested & thrown in jail for the tantrum I would have thrown. That's pretty dang bad when you make an arrangement & he doesn't do sh^t on his part to make arrangements for what he promised .

Yikes...

Ok I JUST got Nemo from Global Imports on 3/31. The whole buying experience was a blast... I've never had so much fun laughing and cutting up with a Finance guy before.

A week later my back passenger-side seat wouldn't fold down. You could tell the lock was messed up. I made an appointment with Thomas, brought the car in, but they didn't have the part in stock (I waited about 2 hours for them to tell me that.) So, I was supposed to call Thomas the next day, but I got busy and forgot. I called him a few days later, left a message, and he never called back. One more message a few days later and he still never called.

Finally, I had to go in for some accessories, saw Thomas, and walked over to him. I said in a friendly, joking manner "Why you don't call me back? Did we break up or something?" (We had joked around the day I bought my car when I was introduced to him.) He insisted that he HAD called me back and left me a message. I only have one number and it's my cell that's on me all the time. Nope!

So now I have another appt. to bring Nemo back in Monday and he says it'll take 4 hours to replace that lock. 4 hours?!? I thought he was kidding! He's serious!

I'm kinda nervous after reading these posts that something is going to go wrong. They need to look at the top too because it squeals when it goes back up. But what choice do I have? Hank Aaron took 4 days to even call me back when I told them I know exactly what I want and just needed to place the order. Global Imports called me back immediately, so that's why I went with them to begin with.

Those are the only 2 places in Georgia, right?
