>>I'm on call for jury duty for the next 2 weeks... I hope this experience doesn't affect my judgement... unless, of course, he broke into a mini.... whoa... i almost forgot.... they also took my MINI car cover.... $&*%!!!
>>

hhmm... maybe you should keep an eye out on ebay for anyone selling Mini car covers in your area. I'm sure that there can't be too many people doing that...

>>Where did you get the flashing LED? I would love to figure out away to just hook an LED that flashes when the car is locked. It would also be nice to have it hooked up to the car's battery. Oh, I wish that I had some electrical engineering skills...

I bought it at Radio Shack for less than $3:00. There is a small plastic plug on the dash which is easy to pry out. I drilled a small hole in it, just big enough for the red LED, fished the wires to the glove box and....Viola!! A flashing red light that looks like an alarm. I have zero electrical skills, I'm a sculptor/artist. Just do it!!! Ron.

I used the same $3 Radio Shack technique up until I got the factory alarm installed. Peace of mind I suppose.

However, motomohair, did your alarm go off at all or did the crim have all the time in the world to rummage through your car finding good stuff to steal? That makes me nervous. Sorry for your bad news.

MINIclo- sorry about your phone too. I can't believe people are so gutsy and mean. Mine got stolen as well and the worst part for me was losing my entire phonebook! Guess I should have used the old fashioned pen & paper technique instead, but the phone was just so easy! Oops.

That all sucks. Hmm....Not that you would want it in your MINI, but I like the system that I saw in a James Bond (I think it was) movie some years ago. You break into the car and it blows up!

Motor on!

it seems that somebody knew what i had in the trunk and the went directly for it..
i live deep in the bowels of a neighborhood filled with speed bumps... it certainly seems unlikely that someone would just drive by and think, "hey, i wanna try my luck with that one"... they didn't rummage through the whole car cause they would've had to break one of the other windows (the got the boot)...

i'm gonna yell at the dealer tomorrow cause my alarm didn't even peep...
i'm thinking of getting my money back and getting whatever you guys recommend...
