bad karma is being sent their way!! I don't understand people, never will. it doesn't sound like you had your stuff in plain site - do you think someone watched you and waited for you to leave?

i'd check your renter's insurance [if you have it] sometimes items like a camcorder are covered if you are in transit, depends on the policy. Good Luck!

other than being completely violated...is everything else ok? I hope the repairs are simple and can be done quickly.

As someone who's had their entire car stolen before, I can feel your pain. It's a horrible violated feeling, isn't it? And you have no idea who did it, which makes you start to eye everyone a little different. Kind of a loss of innocence. Sad. Why do people have to do this crap?

I'm atheist but still believe that common decency should keep you from not "coveting".

Ouch.

Dunno what's worse.... having a lowlife smash your window or losing the cameras.

Sympathy on both.

what's worse is that the lowlife that did it is still walking around waiting to do it again to someone else

Wait until you have someone break into your home, that's a grand feeling. I don't think I slept for 3 nights or so. Violated with a capital V.

They stole my Xenon light bulb from the driver's side, and the dealer had to break the news to me when I brought the car in for service. Apparently, the bonnet can be pried open with a screw driver. I now have a Viper security system on the car, and there is an alarm pin on the bonnet.

A hit and run driver dented my back panel last week, but of the 4 parked cars hit, I had the least damage. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that a rock up a crack in my windshield. People suck.

Peace

It is unfortunate bad things happen to good people, and good things happen to bad people. I have to say, with a car like the MINI comes lots of attention, both good and bad. There will always be random morons who are pissed just cuz their family taught them to be bitter about success, and we get victimized by their insecurities

I like that new Smith and Wesson security upgrade, however I prefer a Glock 7.62mm, you can hide it easily Return of the cowpoke, perhaps?

I've always thought that security systems are a bit of a lost hope. They only make noise to draw attention, but then, who pays attention anymore! It's kind-of a moot point. The best security is to not be noticed, and MINI does NOT apply (yikes!)

Cheers!

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, it's a crushing feeling I know. BTW, can you give more info on your break-in, like what kinf of place were you at (at home, work, friends place) and was it a house, apartment or condo-type place, in a garage, parking lot? I'm curious because I've been living in apartments for a while and worry about people messing with my Mini once I get it. I am trying to get a place that has a 2 car garage but money is a big factor you know.

I'm just curios of the environmentt you live around, or where your car was broken into to maybe get an idea what I, or anyone else, can do different. Also where I live at the moment (Houston, 2 mins from DT) mostly everone parks in the street and it's no surprise when your car gets broken into or scratched or bumped. It's just a matter of time.

Took your car cover? That's salt on the wound, dude. What the heck are they going to do with a MINI cover? No MINI owner would do such a thing, so I think you need to keep your eye out for a MINI car cover sitting on Ford Explorer, or something...

Sorry to hear about your loss, though...I agree with others, karma will get them...

Total sympathy, man.

I had both my cars broken into inside of a week in front of my apartment, which is my main reason for holding off on bringing a MINI home until I'm into the new house (next month!).

Bozos took the sterio our of my honda, and stole the back seat from my wife's camry. I kid you not, the back seat. She came out and the window was smashed and the bottom cushion had been removed. Just bare metal. Damndest thing.

Called the police and they helpfully told me, "Move."

Welcome to LA!

I do believe in KARMA. So sorry to hear of your troubles. My car was broken into (pre MINI) a few years back when I was living in Chicago. Went out on a bitter cold winter morning to find my passenger side window smashed and my radio ripped out w/much damage to the console. Made me sick to think of that sleaze sitting in my car.

Sad people feel they have the right to steal. I work hard for the things I own and give whatever I can afford to people who are less fortunate.

Don't let this scumbag sour you - there are plenty of good people on this planet and I think many of them are here on this site from everything I've read

Ebbey is booked on the Libra Leader out of Southhampton on 2-18-03. He's scheduled to arrive in Port Hueneme, CA on 3-10-03. Final Destination: Colorado

That sucks. I know how it feels. I had my previous car broken into and my entire stereo stolen right in front of my house!!! My alarm stopped working about 2 days prior!

How did they get into the car? Break a window? Slim Jim? Was your camera equipment visible or in the boot?

Also, I'm curious how your dealer handled his earful.

I know how it is. The night I found out my grandmother was dying of cancer, I stopped at a bar for a drink. Literally, one drink. Came outside to find my car GONE. I thought it had been towed. It never occured to me that it had been stolen until my husband picked up the opera window off of the ground. (Still held together by the window tint.)
Called the police. Useless. The next day, my husband and I went driving around an area of town we were pretty sure the car would be in, and low and behold, there it was. Stripped. We had a VERY nice stereo system in the car. Gone.
The police then accused us of trying to commit insurance fraud. They figured if it was that easy to find the car, we must have known where it was. Bet they felt really stupid when they found out we had NO theft insurance. Liability only. None of the damage or missing items was covered by our insurance. We had never gotten theft, because the car was a total piece of crap, and a station wagon on top of it. Never thought anyone would steal an 82 Oldsmobile Custom Cruise Station Wagon. The thing was a land yacht.
We figure it was sa couple of kids who wanted to joy ride, picked our car because it was parked on the street, and older Olds are the easiest cars to steal. They got a bonus when they turned on the stereo.
  BAD KARMA TO ALL EVIL PEOPLE.

I hope their ***** turn into stars and fester at the points...... My alarm is a flashing $3 LED which is installed on the dash. I turn it on from the glove box. It might work as well as yours did. I leave nothing in my Mini except seats and a steering wheel.....maybe some $400 carpets.

After owning a Miata I learned never to keep anything in your car you can't live without. It's also the reason I've never had anything other than a factory stereo.

Where did you get the flashing LED? I would love to figure out away to just hook an LED that flashes when the car is locked. It would also be nice to have it hooked up to the car's battery. Oh, I wish that I had some electrical engineering skills...
