The gas pump icon, in the fuel guage, has an arrow which points to the side of the car your gas cap is on.

I was just razzing you about the keys and stuff . I mean, imagine if we all went and tried this and somehow ended up locked out of our cars .

Too funny, my neighbor was trying this on his Jeep because he "heard this story" I couldn't stop laughing

 

I usually believe the Urban Lengends info when presented but this worked for me, physically worked to unlock the doors of the cars so I don't know why it worked but it did.

I'm not trying to convince anyone just stating the facts.

Yeah, my son (12 yo) heard about this and told my wife. They decided to
try it (on her Mercury Sable) and were so amazed that it worked that they
called me at the office to tell me. I just sort of laughed it off. When I got
home I asked them how they did it. My wife said she was in the house with
the key and the house phone while my son was outside with her cellphone.

I picked up her keys and asked her to go out to her car. I then unlocked
and locked the car several times, standing inside the house where she had
been standing when they tried it earlier. She didn't realize the key had that much range.

I'm with Snopes on this. A cellphone speaker is not capable of producing RF
signals.

 

Not on mine. 4/05-build MCS with non-H/K *doesn't* lower the volume when you turn the key off. I almost wish it did, but I don't usually listen that loud... :-)

 

You can get to it in the H/U diagnostic/setup mode, but it doesn't have any effect with the HK upgrade.

Put my new licence plates on today and found that the holder is attached to the car with machine screws into threaded inserts and the plate is attached to the holder with machine screws,also with inserts. I like nice little details like that.

 

Did you know that there are 8 places on your MINI that you can use to open a (non twist-off) bottle of beer?

... and the hatch doesn't lock, either, if the doors are unlocked (no flash).

 

Located on top of the fuel door is a small hole that allows you to stick bottom (the part that goes into the refuel tube) of the gas cap in so it doesn't lay against the car, which could cause it to scratch the car as it dangled.

 

My awesome MA showed me that at delivery! Kewl, huh?

^^ Be careful with that one ... could have adverse effects on your warranty <burp>.

well....some enlightenment please.....where are a couple of spots where one could open a bottle ( beer or soda ) ?

 

I discovered something I didn't know this morning driving my MINI to the train station for the very first time - you don't dare throw your computer backpack on the front seat next to you without buckling it in !!!

The seatbelt alarm went off and just refused to shut up until I threw the backpack in the back seat. Seriously, designing the front seat sensor for 40 lb. people?????

^^ thought you were going to say you took some corners at speed and the backpack took an unscheduled dive (well not-funny actually). Buckling up the backpack will solve both the sensor issue And the "stuff flying around the cockpit" issue too. Also, on the floor in front of the passenger seat, is some under-utilized possible cargo space.

I just make sure I put everything in the boot, now. Nothing stays put when I drive. :-)

 

As I was sitting in the boot (butt on the floor, calfs on the bumper with one seat folded) waiting for a friend to pick me up, I looked up to see a buldge in the headliner. WHAT IS THAT? And why haven't I noticed it before?

P.S. It's amazing how many other people cared to post on this! SWEET! I am not the only one who cared about this one!!!!!!
