Sounds like an item for the Road Rage Thread

Also once you get the MINI jump-started turn on everything before removing the cables. This is supposed to prevent a possible overload.
now that you mentioned tow trucks, i had to have TWO tow trucks jump start my little ol' MINI once!

Once you've done that once, tho, you can just pop it off when you're autocrossing.
Thanks, I'll give it a try.

While looking at the mirror, I noticed the crying clown face just above it.

no reason to have an ugly transponder on your windshield!
Be careful as the California Highway Patrol likes to ticket people who do not have it in the regulated windshield position. This can cost you over $100.

The sad clown face referred to, I think, is the "face" created by the new multi light pod/advanced airbag lamp design on the 05 up cars.

PS: Never heard of the CHP ticketing with regards to the Fastrak location before?

Love it!

I'm talking about the light controls above the rearview mirror (2005 others??). The control buttons are eyebrows. The lights are eyes. The orange ambiant lights are tears and the passenger airgbag light is the mouth.

Another startup suggestion...

Since I have the chrono pak, I can see that my oil pressure is much higher when starting cold, then it eventually tapers off when the engine warms up. Whether this is because of viscosity or secondary oil pump I do not know. Because of this, I always allow the engine to warm up for a minute at least (this also gets the stumbling out of the way) before I drive. I also NEVER get on it before the engine reaches operating temperature. I feel that the longevity of my engine is worth the few extra minutes each morning.

Did you know that because of their torsional rigidity, if you jack up one wheel another wheel lifts too (depending on where you put the jack)?

Not sure about the UK, but I got my Mini in Germany where the law is that all vehicles have a first-aid kit and a set of warning triangles in it when you get the car inspected and/or registered. They do fit the first-aid kit perfectly in the left side of the boot and the warning triangles are latched onto the underneath of the removable boot cover thing that lifts when you open the hatch. I think that the US should adopt some laws like this so that the people that are always wrecking or braking down can let others know.

Part viscosity, but mostly because of the higher idle RPM when cold, when the "choke" cuts the idle speed the oil pressure drops.

I noticed that the low fuel hash-mark is orange (when the light indicator is not lit up red) and the highest level of fuel hash-mark is dark grey.....and the high temperature hash-mark is orange and the lowest temperature hash-mark is dark grey...I never noticed that before on my 04 MC with center speedo....I was checking out the previous post about waiting for the the low fuel indicator light to shut off when turn the key prior to actually cranking the engine

Slow day, so I'm going to go outside and look for provisions in my tool kit...

I'll let you know if I see any provisions, as soon as I get back,
Tatt

Hmmm, can't believe I missed this before, since I've used my center-cap puller several times in the last year... Upon closer inspection, the tool kit in my '05 S, has a square place inside, where I could conveniently stash a starburst fruit chew or maybe 2 .

On the outside, I never before saw what looks like a hole about the size of a tire lug (?)...

Other than that, no provisions found,
Tatt

Sorry if I'm a little late, just saw this thread... In my dad's 05 MCS on a long road trip once I changed my sitting position, and the passenger airbag turned off becuase it no longer sensed me. And I weigh around 115 pounds. I had to sit back in the center of the seat and push on the ceiling until it detected my weight again. So a 40lb limit is not that rediculous.

Great thread! Lots of stuff I'll have to check out *if it ever stops raining!* Anyway, I was hoping I would find out what goes in the plug(s) on the e-brake?

thanks!

I didnt see these two listed...

1) The wipers (I have nonrain sensing) will adjust with the speed of the car. for instance if you have them on regular speed and pull up to a stop light they will slow down, and then return to their normal speed once you start moving again. Note - I think this is true but I could just be seeing things...

2) The gas cap on the MINI S can be held in the gas cover when it is open and you are re-fueling.

Here in NJ where all gas stations are full service (believe it or not self-service is illegal here!) I noticed that many gas station attendants know this trick.

I wanted to see how the headlight washers work, so when I got home, I kept the engine running, lights on, got out, flipped on the washer. Only the windshield worked, not the headlight. What's with that?

I've heard that the washers pop out on every 2nd or 3rd squirt of the windshield washers.

Found this one today

In the rear compartment, drivers side (tool kit location)...
Look in and up, there is an emergency fuel door opening handle.
This could be useful info if the lock solenoid failed and left you unable to re-fuel.

yep. been there awhile. for some reason i never thought the bumper2bumper warranty covered that. (duh! airbags and wiper blades, but not a boot tear? duh!) NAM set me straight. wish i could get it done before AMVIV. soon tho (and maybe the peeling paint on my door handle, while I'm at it!)

The washer jets are pushed out by water pressure from the pump. Is there
fluid in the headlight washer reservoir? The reservoir on the passenger's side
is for the windshield and rear glass. The reservoir on the driver's side is for
the headlight washers.
