Hello All,

I might have an opportunity to get an S with the Lapis Blue seats. First question--is the blue on the door panels or just the seats and carpet? Also, is the back carpet blue too? And finally, will a gray floor mat cover the carpet completely, or will there still be blue showing? I saw this interior months ago and don't remember it clearly, but I do remember thinking it was a little much, however I'm tired of waiting to order a car. I would order black leather seats but this car is just what I want in all other respects.
If anyone has a link to some detailed shots of the lapis interior I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks a bunch and happy motoring,

Craig

I happen to like the Lapis interior, and if you like blue carpets, they look great. I don't think the mats would cover the carpets entirely.

My wife on the other hand loved them in photos, but when she saw them in person felt they were not as exciting looking as the Kodachrome. So she vetoed that option.

I urge you to see the inteior first hand. It's a personal choice, and if you really like it, you are all set!

With the mats, you cannot see much of the blue carpet. But hey, I kinda like my blue carpet. In my opinion, the lapis blue is very nice. It was made for Indi Blue. What color S is it?

Sorry, kgladstone, I'm sure the blue carpet looks nice, I certainly don't mean to offend anyone, I'm just not sure it would be my personal first choice. The S is Dark Silver with Black Top--just what I'd like except I'd really like the black leather interior. But since it would be at least four more months since I'd see my car--and I've been waiting since July already--I'm about ready to say to heck with it and get the blue. Does it go well with the Dark Silver?

Thanks,

Craig

When I first saw Lapis interior I thought it was WAY OTT! Especially the rear seats which are BLUEBLUEBLUE.

However, I have been driving my MC now for 8 months with a plain black interior. The MINI encourages (demands) that you come out of your shell.

So ... The MCS at MINI Peabody is Lapis interior! And I think it looks excellent.

I have got some "black with blue flecks" cocomats which should look great with the Lapis seats ... pictures once I get the car.

I have the Dark Silver with Lapis and I think it looks fantastic. The grey mats cover most of the carpet anyway. It really is a personal choice. Surely you can find one in your area to look at. Good luck, MB

Craig, I too have a DS "S" with the lapis blue leather int. I did not like the color when I first saw it but purchased saved time by purchasing from dealer stock. I know love it. It's a bit funky but funky in a good way. It certainly brightens up the int.

Peace Out

First off, sorry to all for repeatedly sending the same dang message over and over again. Don't know what I did--I think I was hitting the refresh button and didn't notice till it was too late. I love technology.

Anyway, I wanted to ask iancull where you got those "black with blue flecks" cocomats? Haven't heard of them. Are they dealer stock?

Also, you guys that didn't like the lapis blue at first but love it now are making a VERY strong case to go get this car.

Thanks!

Craig

I have a PS w/ Blk MCS w/ the lapis interior.
I bought it from existing stock
I get more compliments than I ever expected to from this lapis interior.

My 1st choice would have been Blk w/ Blk w/ the lapis interior.
That combo totally incredible in person...
If it didn't cost 4k to paint my MCS..all black...I would have done so already

Peace,
D

I felt exactly the way you do about the blue carpet - maybe a bit too much. Also the back seat is almost entirely blue. But during the ordering process it grew on me and by the time I got my car I totally loved it! Get it! The seats, carpet and dark grey mats look incredible. The mats cover MOST of the blue carpet but the carpet is visible around the edges and it looks great. And the seats - my god - they are gorgeous. After 4 months and almost 10,000 miles I still find myself staring at the Lapis Leather seats while I'm driving and I'm sort of in awe of how beautiful they are. Get it you won't regret it!

I totally agree 100% !

I think that for you to get the DS car and the Lapis seats would rock! The DS outside with a black inside would be way to dark but the Lapis would be just the pop of color you need. --- now if the outside of the car was EB or IB then the Lapis might me a little too much blue all the time, like I read a review of a MINI and the one they drove was CR outside and red inside they said that red gets really intense.

.... so picture walking up to the DS MINI and opening the door to this. . .

love my Lapis ... floor mats cut down a ton of the blue carpet leaving a really nice blue border. I find the two tone seats to be way cool....

I have the ds/white with lapis blue interior and I love it, in fact, I am picking up the new shifter **** and leather boot for the shifter that are also lapis blue, just ordered them on Monday from my dealer. I did cover the carpet with black mats, blue mats are not available or I would have them to. At first the interior is brite, but you get used to it and it is normal.

...and aren't there seat covers you can put over the rear seats if you think they are too blue?

I'm going even further, I'm hiding small blue neon lights way up in teh footwell with an inconspicuous switch with a blue led to turn on at night... blkue lighting for the blue interior! My friend's Honda has it, I liked how it looked... should work for a Mini.

The blue interior looks just like the inside of a whorehouse. The blue light would make it look like a cheap whorehouse. Not that it is a bad thing.

quite harsh, y-ouch

I like the Lapis interior, however I ordered Space cloth, why?

1. I sick of having my back being all sweaty in summertime, yuk!
2. wanted a brighter than black interior, but my exterior is already blue, wasn't looking for an overdose of blue
3. Everyone and their Mom has Lapis, Space is more elusive dare I say "the final frontier"

Ok I'm done, NARF!

Im going to do the same thing with my interior. As a matter of fact I just read an article in a sport truck magazine about a company that is making bendable strips of LEDs that are very bright and do not waste much power. They look great, and can be mounted anywhere.

The magazine and issue is:
Jan 2003 issue of Sport Truck
Page 82 - 83. Article name is: "Lighten Up"
Supplier of the lights are:
Radiantz Inc.

I love the look of these and they come in four colors, Im going with the blue. IB/B w/ Lapsis Blue inter should look great with this. Oh, by the way, thanks for the Whorehouse comment, that rocks!

Oh, I thought I recognized that picture of Lapsis interior. Thats my car on the day I picked it up. It does have the floor mats now.

Frank

Ouch. There I was, feeling all good about getting the lapis blue, and Buzz went and reminded me of what I thougth the first time I saw it. Not that there's anything WRONG with that.

I don't care. I can't wait anymore. I'm buying the damn thing.
