hey,

i know that the power windows in the cooper go down automatic w/ a quick click down............. but they do not go up automatically?? why did BMW not have them also go up automatically. it is such a pain and it makes me mad. it is by far the only flaw in the whole entire car (along w/ storage

The windows have no auto-up so as to prevent a squashed protuberance.

My Mexican (Euro-spec) MINI's windows go up automatically! Definitely a convenient feature. I also get rear fog lights and a full set of toggle switches instead of a big gaping hole in my toggle switch row.
Some U.S. specs just don't make any sense to me..

For auto-up to be available, the window control electronics requires a safety feature to stop the window if something is in the way. This means an additional sensor = additional $. FYI the windows will stop if you hold the up button and keep your arm out the window, but it pinches a little too much for US safety regs.

Well, sure it may be a minor inconvenience that you have to press the toggle up for a whole, what, 3 seconds? ... people also complain about how inconvenient seatbelts are to put on, another 3 seconds. Lives are just being saved, no big deal.

I agree! Auto-up windows would be so nice! You can put the windows down with the key fob, why not up? They can also go up/down if you stick the key in the door (twist and hold), but who uses the key in the door anyway? One touch up from the toggles would the great, and up from the fob would be excellent!!

Sure is nice to live in such a litigious society.

What I mean is that I live in Mexico city and therefore purchased my MINI in Mexico. MINIs sold in Mexico are similar to Euro-spec MINIs, so they differ slightly from U.S. MINIs.
For example, we get rear fog lights and an actual toggle switch to turn them on/off while US MINIs are left with an empty space where that toggle switch should be.
We get power windows which go down AND up automatically.
We don't get the red and orange rectangular side marker lights that you guys have on your wheel arch trim.
We don't get the god-awful airbag warning stickers anywhere in our MINIs. (though perhaps we should).
And we pay a hell of a lot more in taxes than you guys do, so everything's fair, I guess!

I would have to completely agree with the one touch up windows. As I was driving onto the freeway on ramp trying to roll up the windows and shift gears it was nearly impossible to do it. Also I have noticed if you have say a water bottle in the front cup holder it is almost impossible to reach the switches. Do you think you could sign a waiver and have the dealer turn on auto one touch up?

Wait a minute..if that picture is of YOUR MINI, why don't you have side marker lights either? If it's a U.S. Spec MINI it most definitely SHOULD have side marker lights..
Here's a pic of my MINI..See? No side markers on the wheel arch trim.

As far as the rear fog lights, they look really cool. You can wire your mini to turn its rear fogs on everytime you step on the brakes. In fact, you have the bulbs already installed. There's a thread on how to do this somewhere in the mods forum I think.
The toggle switch, however, is another matter. You're probably just gonna have to get used to that hole in the dash..

that isnt my mini cooper, just an online picture. ya i dont want to have the lights go on when i hit the brake, i think that is stupid. i would rather have the actual fog light that i turn on and it is just an added taillight, i think that would be really cool

Aaahhh, that explains your missing marker lights.
By the way the rear fog lights shine out through the top portion of the MINI's taillights, making the MINI more visible to other drivers behind you. They really do look quite nice when they're on.

Not as of this moment, but i'll try to take some if my girlfriend lends me her digital camera!
There might be some in the mods forum, though, you might want to do a search..
