It's a sad, sad day for me...

I was driving along a two-lane road with a center turn lane at about 30mph when OUT OF NOWHERE a woman in a beat up old Corolla pulls out of a Kmart parking lot without stopping trying to make a left turn across my right of way.

I swerved into the turn lane and slammed on my brakes trying to avoid her, but no luck. She slammed into the front of my MINI on the passenger side and took out my front fender, 1 Xenon headlight, my passenger side mirror, and passenger side door. I wanted to jump out of my MINI and strangle the hell out of her.

I've only had her for 2 weeks (almost to the day). I waited 6 agonizing months for her, and god knows how long its going to take to get her fixed.

Thank god no one was hurt, but my baby has suffered substantial damage. I think she can be repaired, but unfortunately my MINI-authorized body shop isn't open until Monday. At least she has insurance...

So, here I am, MINI-less after 2 joyus (albeit short) weeks of motoring. I'm not sure what to do with myself right now. I'm pretty devastated. Just thought I'd share with you guys. You were there for me while I waited for her. I hope you'll be there for me while I wait to get her back.

Tony

Hey,
That really sucks, but I agree that the mini is a great car, and its a good thing that it does well in crashes. I've had mine for nearly 8 months, and it has been awsome. When you get it fixed you will have tons more fun while motoring! good luck!

She's got several thousand dollars worth of damage. I have to wait for Monday to find out for sure. BTW, the a$$ of a driver got a ticket... She deserved a beat down as well...

Hate to hear your sad story, Tony.

But on the bright side, you are ok, your MINI will return good as new soon, and you will be motoring along before winter turns to spring!

And if you are an incredible optimist, you will now be thankful that you will no longer have to live under the terrible stress of worrying about that first little scratch in the paint since you already got it out of the way in a big way in only 2 weeks!

You are welcome to come down and motor about in mine if you begin to lose your mind from separation anxiety!

Oh, Tony, I send get-well-soon wishes for your MINI. I was hit this week, too. Fortunately, only the rear bumper was damaged and will be an easy fix ($740 worth of damage).

Thanks Kohu'ula...

My baby protected us well... Everyone invoved is OK. Although now I'm getting that "a few hours after an accident" back pain. It could've been a lot worse. I hope she doesn't take too long to fix.

BTW, hes your baby left CA for Hawaii yet??? I can't wait to see it!

I am so sorry Tony This is truly unfortunate. It is sad how there are drivers out on the roads with no regard for the safty of others and themselves aswell. Despite your Mini being damaged the most important factor is that no one was hurt. The car can be fixed, but the drivers are not replaceable. I hope the person that hit you is penalized to the full extent! Please let me know the progress on your MC's recovery.

Take care

Tony,

Glad you say you seem ok, but with the onset of pains make sure you see a doctor.

Your MINI will be fine and good as new when you get it back. You however are flesh and bones and in an accident you need to seek medical evaluation, I have been through it and did not seek medical help until it was to late and it cost me physically and financially. The insurance company will pay, and I hate to say it a lawyer could also be in future, the insurance companies will take your best interest into account.

I hope you feel better and your MINI get backs to you as good as new.

I am so sorry you met up with an idiot in a Toyota! and now can't drive your baby! You say your back hurts and my first Mean Idea is "run to the ER and then sue like he!! for pain and suffering" .... Even if the real pain and suffering is for you to have your car 2 weeks and have a lady hit you and wreck it! I'm not one to over react or incourage legal action but this is a terrible thing to happen to you. -- heck, it'd be different if it was your new car and you wrecked it yourself after 2 weeks!!!! so I'm saying " if your back hurts, go to the ER and have someone look at it and document your pain " . . . .

>>hi Tony! sorry to read about your bad day.. at least the POS Corolla had insurance.. you should take an epsom salt bath later to ease your muscles, and it will soothe your nerves.. the salts are normally used for sore toes and sprains but works wonderfully on soft muscle spazams. hope this helps! feel better!

Tony...

So sorry about that man. I can only imagine how you feel. Heck you only had the car two weeks and now you have to live with the feeling that something on it has been fixed. That sucks. There sure are a lot of people that have no business being on the road. I have been in my share of accidents, and they have always been somone hitting me. Sorry Sorry Sorry.

You have got to be kidding me!!!! Man you got your car about the same time I got mine. That really blows!!!

Now, you did say a Corolla right? My sister lives down there, and is not the most careful of drivers, she drives a Maxima though!!!!

I have to say South Florida drivers suck, lived down there for 4 years myself, only 3 of them consecutively though. Don't know who's worse, the Senior Citizens in Broward and Palm Beach, those who are of foreign decent in Dade County, or my sister?!?!
