Hello everyone. I just got my Mini a couple weeks ago and was wondering if it was possible to add auto headlights just by installing the stalk and having the dealer program something?? I did a forum search but couldn't find anyone asking this before.
I have an auto-dim mirror and from what I read, the auto headlights use the sensor in the mirror to tell from night and day, so I already have that covered.
But I'm also about to order an alarm and I guess they give you the choice between a few different alarm light stalks including one with the auto headlight setting. Again, can I just simply add the auto headlight alarm stalk and have everything good to go?
I'm really curious if anyone has tried to do this before.

I am getting the dealer to activate it tomorrow. I have taken pictures and notes on what is necessary to do that. (And as a result I will have the newer headlight stalk with the 'A' headlight position.)
From what I have read, you will need to replace the Rain Sensor with Rain Light Sensor also called AIC Control Module. The light aspect has two more sensors in this part, (total 4 - the other 2 are for wiper use)
The BC1 general module would need to be updated to recognize the switch codes, but after finished with the bc1 upgrade the washer fluid led would work if the fluid container(s) are updated with the sensors. (price is under $30 from wonderful Classic Mini here on NAM)
anyways - keep your fingers crossed for me.
If I don't post my results right away - PM me. I am planning to do a write-up to help other NAM'ers.
