West Virginia Motoring

Picked up my Hyper Blue MCS on 28 Oct after a 41 day wait. Then took a great ride up US219 from Virginia to Pensylvania. This is a great route to test out a new MINI. Many side roads also offer great motoring and views. Great car and a great ride.

How cool to get your Mini in 41 days! And some great countryside to motor around in, for sure! Having just ordered my CR/B MCS and being told 120 days (yoiks!), I am quite jealous! Hopefully, the twisty roads of Colorado will be patient! Happy motoring!!

First time we did that US 219 run, we didn't know there was a wind power farm on the ridge. It was a bit of a shock when we rounded a bend, and saw what looked like a big tree falling across the road ahead...then again...and again! We didn't figure out that it was the blade set of one of the turbines until we got a lot closer.

Route 9 in northern WV is another great scenic run. We're going to try to get out and motor over that way tomorrow for an impromptu fall foliage run. Maybe we'll see more more MINIs out there!

Oh if I only had the time for a Rt 9 drive tomorrow...have fun.

Congrats on the new ride, headhog1...Rt.219 through Maryland, around Deep Creek Lake and all the way to Buffalo.

I saw four other MINIs in the span of about 15 minutes in Frederick today...two at Lowe's, mine making it three.

I've been in texas since the late 60s but grew up in Wheeling, WVa. We bought our first MINI at P&W in Pittsburgh, so first trip was down to Wheeling, up to Oglebay Park, up and down Pogue's run and out 88 to West Liberty. There are some awsome MINI roads in West Virginia. Another good one would be the road from Clarksburg to New Martinsville. Y'all are making me homesick.

Here's a shot from the Cacapon River overlook on Rte. 9. This wiew was the motivation for motoring out on Sunday.

Former West Virginian here too. Grew up in Wheeling as well. Left the area in 1989. Still go back to visit family. The Mini probably won't make the trip until next summer.

Another good run would be US250 from Fairmont to Moundsville. Then you could stop by and visit the Hare Krishna Palace of Gold on the way. What a trip they are.

LOL, I did a ride (motorcycle) on 219 last summer. We went PA-MD-WV then passed into VA for a bit (on a side road). Then we turned around and went back up to PA. What a great road to be on. Those windmills really made my head spin when we rounded the bend and *boom* there they were.

Fellow former Wvers unite! I too grew up in Wheeling. Where did you guys go to high school? I went to Linsly, graduated in 93. We should have a holiday Mini drive if we are back in town for the holidays. I agree on 250 that is one fine drivers road. There is a Miata club that does an annual drive on 250 it was pretty cool a couple years ago to see a string of about 25 Miatas coming around a bend

I attended Linsly for grades 5-10 but graduated from Triadelphia in 67. Grew up in Woodsdale up the street from Vance Church. I get back every couple of years, but rarely in the cold weather. I'm spoiled.
