Good idea, SB! The Rocket City Logo is great!

You could consider not having any numbers on it at all (if you can remember where all the gears are)

For me the one thing I can't live w/o on my mini is the AUX port.

Am I correct in understanding that the Auto-up module basically allows one touch, or 2 tap to make the window go up? Much as it goes down automatically, with the correct switch inputs, from the factory?

That is a great design! You should email Doug and get one made.

Jeff, from a performance standpoint, the Whalen is heavier, works really well with short shift kits (I use a B&M, very ahppy with this) to give you a good faster feel through the gears, but feels great even with the stock shifter.

Folks seem to like it because:
A) You don't have the plastic/leather/chrome feeling of the stock ****
B) Doug Whalen can put just about any design on the **** for you (have not seen the naked lady yet, but I'm sure it's out there) and
C) Feels solid heavy, takes about 10 mins to install, and you enjoy it every time your hand drops down there.

[QUOTE=Zman]is it really worth it? how does it improve shifting?

Yes, it's really worth it.
I don't have a short shifter, but Whalen has heavier **** to improve the shift feeling a lot. Actually you can "feel" a quicker shifting. Besides, its surface is so smooth and a little smaller than the stock. These characteristics gives you perfect fitting to your palm.

The only thing you have to pay attention would be its temperature after parking under hot summer sun. It gets really hot...

You can see just from this thread that a lot of people would disagree. In terms of spending $150 and the amount of benefit you get back, I think the Whalen ranks pretty high. If it is just too much to spend, there are other heavy ***** on the market that cost less. They may not be made to such a high level of finish as the Whalen, but they will provide similar benefit for shifting.

i guess it's a bit difficult to explain the improved "feel" of the whalen shifter...best way is to experience it yourself. hopefully, there's somebody nearby to let you test out their whalen shifter.
improved grip/fit to your palm, smooth cool surface, heavier at the top of the shifter to make shifting smoother and quicker...those are some of the descriptions.

lol, theres no way i'm paying 150 bucks for a piece of polished steel! I'll invest my money in a nice leather wrapped momo **** before i get a whalen.

the best **** ive found was a 15 dollar **** from autozone. its smaller than ther stock ****, and it has a grippy mesh surface on it. my fidanza SS is heavier than stock already, and the shifts are smoother than with the fidanza **** or the stock ****.

and i dont see where you get improved grip with somethign thats polished... just seems to kinda negate the purpose for having a smaller **** thats heavier, it wont to anything if your hand is contsnatly slipping off of it.

I also like the Factory option Dash Mounted Starter button! No need to un-twist/re-twist when you stall. Just the thing for people like me who have driven automatics for the last 5+ years.

This is my MCS with the Whalen's. This was up 2 years ago, but what I would like to emphasize is the perfect matching to the Mini's interior. I definitely see the value with $150 investment. And more importantly, I love it!

I thought your car is on order. How can you have "THE absolute BEST accesory for your MINI??? The ONE you would now NEVER be without? Without a car? Ahh, a virtual accessory, those are cool too

If $150 is too much for the ****, maybe with enough interest there could be a group buy for the holidays.

Re: The other parcel shelf. How difficult is it remove the glove box? Is it more involved than removing the knee bolster? How is the weight savings?

Those sills are really cool. Did you add them afterwards or have them at delivery? Are they a dealr installed option or factory option?
