There was a Velvet Red Cooper on MTV Cribs. It belonged to a member of a band named 'Newfound Glory'. Too bad I never heard of 'em, but they definitely have good taste. I think it will air again on the first Cribs show this Saturday morning (in US at least).

I usually whine that MTV plays just about everything but music nowadays. This is one instance where I didn't mind so much.

 

I saw that episode too. I also have no idea of any of the songs that Ne Found Glory sing! If anyone can help us unhip people out...

You aren't missing much. They are garbagepunk.

 

New Found Glory, I think, are a good band. They a pop-punk band from Flroida. I saw them open up for another group a couple of years back and they blew me away live. I didn't know a single note and whent they left the stage, i was still hummin' their stuff. That's a good band if they can make that kind of first impression. They're just a very poppy version of say, Blink 182.

Yup I am afraid so. Punk's Dead. Whiney little kids are alive and well though.

 

Punk is far from dead. But yeah, there are lots of emo bands and stuff. I love those shirts/buttons/stickers that say "Cheer Up, Emo Kid."

Aren't they the band that had that awesome video of all the girls jumping around in their underwear at a party? Oh that was Jimmy Eat World... I get all these candy-punk bands mixed up. They all sound alike.

 

I believe they did a song for the DareDevil Soundtrack....

Which is a pretty good movie... saw it last night... Now if they can get Ol Matt Murdock to team up with Peter Parker!

 

New Found Glory...ugh. Blink 182, Sum41, Good Charlotte...they all sound the same. Corporate rock sucks.

 

i've been a new found glory fan for a long time....since around 1997. they aren't hardcore punk at all, some call them popppy/bubble gum punk or emo. to me their new album isn't that great, probably my least favorite of all their cds. just recently went big with their new album, before that they were kinda underground. i really give them respect compared to the other poppy punk bands out there b/c they actually write their own music, can actually play their instruments VERY well, and are amazing to see live. i think to classify them in the same catagory as blink182, sum41, or good charlotte is not justified. blink182 just blows, and they suck live, same with sum41...they are just no good. good charlotte....well i don't like them cuz they aren't hardcore but try and pretend they are. also, nfg's music is more about acutal things and situations people go through in life. all those other bands have songs that are about stupid "anti" comformity.....which is crap.
